Weird AKL question...

This is a really stupid question, but here goes. My mother and I run, and prefer to run outside, and we will be staying at AKL in June, and were wondering what the parking lot is like and whether or not there would be room for us to run in the parking lot. We don't really care who watches us, and it has never been a problem at any other resort, but we have never been to AKL and were curious. We are aware of the fitness center, we just prefer to jog outside and work on our tans! Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem to run in the parking lot at AKL. We stayed there in September and I seem to remember that the parking lot was pretty big. There's also a walking trail around some of the animal viewing areas and perhaps even in other areas of the resort (I have to admit that we didn't explore those much). It may be that some of those paths are long enough to run as well?

Which I could help you but I've never stayed there or even seen the parking lot. But most resorts have some sort of path system that is great for jogging. I'm sure they have something similar.

Being serious. If you really enjoy jogging some distance, you should consider jogging to the Animal Kingdom and back in the mornings, then you can change clothes, hop a bus and ride back over again to visit the park. :lol: Really, if you enjoy jogging, the "Animal Kingdom and back" would give you a nice workout and be fun at the same time I think. As far as the parking lot goes, it is fairly large and you shouldn't really have any trouble jogging around that if you prefer. I don't think the animal viewing areas are big enough to really do you any good, plus there will be more congestion and the pathways are crooked. The halls are definitely long enough if it's raining out but for some reason I do not think guests and cast members will appreciate that much either.

Do you think they would really let us run on the side of the road ALL the way to AK? I would think it would be hard to get past the security gate!? Maybe!

From what I know of the location of the Hotel and the park, and the amount of space on the sides of the road, I see no reason why they wouldn't, but maybe one of our local WDWMagic transportation cast members can clue us in on guest guidelines for jogging up and down the main roads.

The real advantage to the AKL location for this purpose is that it is basically the only thing on that part of the road, so there is not that much traffic on that segment of highway. I'm not sure, let's see what others have to say about the idea.

That traffic light up between AKL and AK can be pretty heavy in traffic from time to time. Maybe you can stop there and turn around. Any further and you'll be running on a highway and not the quiet road AKL is on anyways.

But the parking lot is plenty big enough to run around and Spider-Mans suggestion on running the halls would be good too. If you pick the right time of the morning, the halls should be empty...and god knows they are long enough! :lol:

You could always take a morning drive over to Fort Wilderness or some other resort and jog over there too.

If you want to run around outside, the best place for you to stay is Ft Wilderness campgrounds. Lots of space and nature trails.
