We will be heading down to the World on Columbus Day weekend and staying all week. I was just wondering how many other Magic Friends would be there too, and what are your plans? Are you nervous about getting ADR's like me? :ROFLOL:

We're headed down the 18th and leaving the 27th! SO excited! :sohappy: This will be the first trip for everyone except my dd and I. We will be celebrating her birthday AND my dh & my anniversary 2 days later. I'm hoping crowds are ok, it seems there really isn't a "slow time" anymore at WDW!

Hubby just gave the ok to book for Oct 8th-13th. :sohappy: Kids will be on break and only miss 1 day of school. We had to cancel our Feb trip for the two of us due to lack of babysitter and $$ but with the military ticket promotion going on this year we should be ok for the 4 of us to go. Now the fun of planning can begin. Have fun everyone!

Your trip will over lap us!! I am so glad that you are going to be able to go as a family. There is no better vacation in the world, in my eyes anyway. :ROFLOL:

Have you decided where you are going to stay yet?

I agree. Going with the kids is so much more fun. We are going to stay at either the Beach Club or POFQ depending on cost. Money is an issue but not having to pay so much for park tickets really helps. How about you guys? Where are you staying at?

We will be at POR, because there are five of us, otherwise I would be at a value to save money. We don't spend much time at the resort anyway. :ROFLOL:I'm kind of excited though, to stay somewhere different again. I honestly think that POFQ looks much better, but they don't have rooms for five.

Are you going to be on the dining plan? We are going to be on it for this trip. We have done it before and we loved it. I like to plan, plan, plan so the dining plan was fun for me.

I'll be there the week before, either 10/3 or 10/4 - 10/9. So excited! I'm taking my best friend again, who's been dying to go again since we went in 2007 but we haven't been able to get the same time off since then. And it's my first time in October. I'm looking forward to MNSSHP, but not towards planning around the ones I'm not going to  And one of my favorite bands is playing for Eat to the Beat, so it's a win-win-win trip!

You are going to LOVE going in Oct. The last time we went it was in Sept and it was so very hot & humid, but it was still a wonderful trip. It just rained, no stormed, every single night. We have had better luck with the weather in Oct. knock on wood. :hammer::ROFLOL:

If I had my choice I would stay at Pop again but I am out voted. POR is great also just bigger. I would like to try the dining plan this time. We have never done it before but with growing kids I think it may be a good idea this time. They never stop eating! :ROFLOL:

:ROFLOL:I know what you mean with kids always wanting to eat. My children are the same way. We enjoy the dining plan mainly because everything is paid up front & we all like to eat at the Disney restaurants at the parks & at the resorts. You just feel totally into Disney when you do it, instead of leaving the resort and going to a place that we could eat at while we are home.

They say that you can save as much as 30% while you are on the plan. I added everything up when we got home last time and I saved over 600.00. Now this was before the changes to the plan, but it's still a good deal. :)

Oh yes! I nearly have the whole thing planned down to what we're wearing! Now, if they would only do ADRs 210 days out! :D

It's our family of 5 and my IL's and my husbands sister too, so we are renting a house since it is cheaper than even 2 rooms at Pop, basically. It will be different not staying onsite, but we got a VERY close house and we are driving, so hopefully it won't be too bad!

I already have our days/parks picked (according to last years park hours and this years compared, it could change if they drastically change hours or EMH) and already know where we want our ADRs! I'm a geek.

Thats alot of savings and that is also why I want to do it. That and having it paid up front. Are you going to do any of the MNSSHP's? I think we will do the Friday night one because I am afraid the one they have scheduled on Columbus Day will be packed. Unless they change the dates that is or I read them wrong. :lookaroun With me you never know. :ROFLOL:

When we went down last time my DH was having a conference there and we did not stay at a Disney hotel. We stayed at Royal Plaza just down from DTD. It was still just as fun as staying on site.

I would LOVE to see your plans for the week like what park you are doing when. I'm so worried that the first weekend is going to be packed, and I am not really sure what we should do.

It was a lot of savings, but it wont be that much this time because there were six of us then and it included the appetizer & tip. This time there will be five of us and we will have to pay the tip. No big deal though, I still like having most of it paid for in advance. DH is so tight with money that even if I had the same amount of money as we paid for the dining plan, he would have us eating at Chick Fil A & other places out side of the park to save money. :ROFLOL:

We are not going to do the MNSSHP as of now, unless I just take the two little ones and DH does something special with my oldest DD. I can't afford for all of us to go. That would eat some of my spending money and I have a list a mile long of things that I want this time. :ROFLOL:If I were going to do it, I would not go to the one that Monday night. I think it will be super busy. My guess is that after Monday, the crowds should die down a little bit. I hope so anyway. Do you have your plans set for the week yet? I can't wait for the park hours to come out, along with the EMH's.

You are going a week earlier than me, right? We arrive on a monday the 18th, so most of our days will be week days. MK Tuesday (slowest day normally for MK), EP wed, AK Thurs, & DSH Friday.

Then I was concerned about the weekend being busier near Halloween, so I have us going to a waterpark on saturday, taking our day off/DTD, Disneyquest during the day on Sunday and then we head to MNSSHP on Sunday afternoon, since we can get in at 4pm. We do Epcot Food & Wine on the following Monday, hoping it will be less busy since locals will be back at work! If I get the right ADRs, I've planned it with no hopping, which leaves less flexibility, but saves the money so we can go to MNSSHP. We loved it last year and are looking forward to it again! :)

Here is mine, please give me your thoughts.

Oct 10th Drive to Orlando / DTD
Oct 11th MK
Oct 12th Epcot / HS
Oct 13th AK/Epcot
Oct 14th HS/ MK
Oct 15th MK/ Epcot
Oct 16th AK?/ MK?
Oct 17th HS?MK
Oct 18th a park until lunch and then head home.

do you usually go to one in the AM and then hop to another park in the evening or are these choices you want to make between the two parks on the days you have two?

The 12th, EP is the best because if it is crowded for the holiday, it will be at all the parks and EP is the largest and it won't feel as crowded. That's what I would choose for that day too.

13th is a Tuesday, DS or AK would be your best bet, I think.
14th is a wed, which is usually good for EP but you'll want to go to MK in the evening b/c it's one of the only nights you'll see wishes b/c of the halloween party (it will be busy that night b/c of this probably)
15th will have EMH in the morning for MK probably though, so it's a toss up? It might be slower b/c it's a party night and people don't want to go to MK on a party day b/c they have to leave and don't get to see Wishes.
The 16th is another day with no party, I think at MK, so another chance at wishes if you are wanting to go there in the evening.
17th is saturday, so I would stay away from DS unless you are planning on getting there at rope drop for EMH, they usually are on Saturdays.
18th is a sunday, probably a great day to do AK. Just don't do AK on Monday, it's the busiest day for AK.

Hope that helps more than it confuses! I also only know some of the EMH b/c we're avoiding them. You may want to hit the parks on those days and utilize them since you are onsite! :) Whoohoo, look at me playing trip advisor with just 7 post! I'm not a tour guide, I just play one on tv! :p I've done a LOT of research and more reading sites than posting, obviously! :D

Once I get our room resv done (doing it tomorrow:sohappy:) then I will start working on where we will eat at and what parks we will do. I always look at when the EMH's are also. I love doing the Halloween party mainly because you can just walk on ride after ride. Just have to make sure that the little one has a good nap that day. I always have a list of things to buy. Packing my lunch everyday, no going out to eat and using my coupons to save up. :ROFLOL:Whatever works. Best thing is that the 4 year old still likes the cheap toys and the 13 year old saves and brings her own money. :D

Thank you for taking the time to review my plans. :) We normally do one park in the AM & a different park at night. I'll tell ya, working around the MNSSHP & EMH's are a little hectic, especially since the regular park hours are not out yet. We can't miss Wishes or Fantasmic, and I am not worried about Illuminations, we will make it work for that.

Your advice was very helpful. I am going to double check everything, but thanks for the heads up on the EMH's. I do try to avoid them if I can. :ROFLOL:

We don't really plan our trip like this...other than catching Fantasmic and a nice dinner or two we just go with the flow...whatever we feel like doing at that time we go do...we will have to plan a little more because of MNSSHP.

I know... there are three of them to plan around. :hammer:

I watched some youtube videos last night about MNSSPH, and it looked really neat. I don't know about it for us though. I'll have to wait and see how the money thing is going, and if DH minds. If they were having it the night that we drive down, I could do it then, but I don't believe that they are. I need to recheck the dates.

Do any of you ever get on youtube and watch videos from the parks? My son & I love to watch them.

I watch the videos all the time plus always watch the travel channel when it has Disney on. :D Can't help myself. Plus the ride and character videos really helped my son prepare for his first visit last year. I just talked to my friend who returned on Sat from a week (first visit) in Disney World with her family. They said it was packed but they liked it, however they would not be returning anytime soon. I find this remark strange. Anyone else? :lookaroun

YES! But then again, everyone around me thinks I'm strange b/c I'm already wanting to plan a trip after THIS one! I have to try and keep it to myself :zipit:b/c my dh hasn't even been yet and thinks I'm nuts. Hopefully once he goes in October he'll come over to the light and will want to go back...and soon! :ROFLOL:

I will never understand it when someone says that. I have a friend who went to Disney two years ago and she still says that they are "good", and have no desire to go back. :veryconfu They like going on cruises, which is fine, but to me Disney would be so much better. If I was offered a trip any where in the entire world, I would still pick Disney World. There is nothing like it, to me. :D
