Wednesday's Press Conference Cancelled!!??

According to word across the Internet the press conference to announce the 2013 itineries has been cancelled!

Should we assume bookings for these new cruises will be postponed??

Disney is obviously realising that the announcement of their 2013 cruises is not a big story in the cruise industry at the moment!

I'm wondering if the reason to cancel the press conference has anything to do with the Costa Concordia. I read an article where there was mention of impact to all cruise bookings within the industry at what is often a prime booking time as a result of that tragedy. Perhaps Disney would rather wait to create excitement under more favorable conditions. :shrug:

I would venture to guess that that is the EXACT reason the announcement was postponed.

I was wondering that, too, Tammy. Will they still come out with the info sans the party to accompany it or just hold off altogether. They still did the clue tweets today and yesterday so maybe that is a sign they're still going to release the info. If they don't it makes the tweets pretty useless. Right?

It does! Unless they drag out the tweets for several more days.

On one hand, I'm sure they want tons of publicity in Miami, on the other hand, if they're waiting because of the Concordia accident, how long do they wait?

If they wait it may be a while. They're still searching the ship and people are still missing. That could take a bit to settle. I guess it could particularly be in conflict with their announcement if, in fact, they were announcing itineraries in the Med off the Tuscan coast! Maybe the delay of info could be more assurance for you and Crush! :wave:

I agree, announcing Mediterranean cruises right now could be a little touchy. So that must be it!!:lol:

Since I am going to be at WDW this weekend doing awesome things, I must admit if they waited a week I wouldn't be too sad.:)

Since the ports might involve Italy - it's best to not post news about it while they are still doing search and rescue missions...

Yeah very true!

I don't think they will hold of too long, possibly just a week
