Wedding song

One son was married in July 06 and the other was married September 07 and both picked "When you Wish Upon a Star" as their dance with me. I would of liked Baby of Mine for the September 07 wedding but he picked the song. Maybe I'm a sentimental fool but I still get teary eyed when I hear it.

A dream is a wish your heart makes.......:animwink:

"They Live In You" from the Broadway production of The Lion King is a nice tune and lyrics. It could work.
Or.... "Now Is The Time" from CoP? I guess this depends on your dancing skills.

Okay my sister got married last weekend and wouldn't us any Disney songs.... my suggestion for her "parent dance" was Love from Robin Hood.

Googled it and found the lyrics:

It seems like only yesterday
You were just a child at play
Now you're all grown up inside of me
Oh, how fast those moments flee
Once we watched a lazy world go by
Now the days seem to fly
Life is brief, but when it's gone
Love goes on and on
Love will live
Love will last
Love goes on and on and on
Once we watched a lazy world go by
Now the days seem to fly
Life is brief, but when it's gone
Love goes on and on

"Promise" (actually better for a Bride & Groom dance though)

Sample lyrics include:

"Promise you will take my hand
As tomorrow comes, we'll go on...

We'll go on growing closer through the years
Moving on through the good times and the tears
Ever on another thousand circles around the sun
If two can be as one, we'll go on...

Promise we'll walk side by side
As a new day dawns we'll go on...

A new life has begun
The two of us as one
We'll go on."

We used that as our wedding song...*sniff*

Found the lyrics to "They Live In You":

Ingonyama nengw' enamabala

Night
And the spirit of life calling
Mamela
(translation: Listen)

And a voice
With the fear of a child asking
Mamela
(translation: Listen)

Wait
There's no mountain too great
Hear these words and have faith
Have faith

They live in you
They live in me
They're watching over
Everything we see
In every creature
In every star
In your reflection
They live in you

They live in you
They live in me
They're watching over
Everything we see
In every creature
In every star
In your reflection
They live in you

Ingonyama nengw' enamabala

I get a tear just listening to the song again ( track #7 [male singer]). There is also a reprise of the song on the album "He Lives In You" (track #12 [female singer].
It's got a nice "slow dance" beat ( for those who just know how to sway back and forth ).

The song that immediately popped into my mind was Baby of Mine from Dumbo. Lyrically, it's really the only song that would truly fit in this situation. I also think So Close from Enchanted would be a great song too but lyrically it may be a little bit of a stretch. Here are the lyrics...

You’re in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I’m with you
So close to feeling alive

A life goes by
Romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
And now you’re beside me and look how far we’ve come
So far we are so close

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We’re so close
To reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let’s go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

And just to help you make your decision, here are the lyrics to Baby Mine...

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what you say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

I hope this helps!

One more and I'm done...

Little Wonders by Rob Thomas, from Meet The Robinsons, might be an option as well...

let it go,
let it roll right off your shoulder
don't you know
the hardest part is over
let it in,
let your clarity define you
in the end
we will only just remember how it feels

our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain

let it slide,
let your troubles fall behind you
let it shine
until you feel it all around you
and i don't mind
if it's me you need to turn to
we?ll get by,
it's the heart that really matters in the end

our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain

all of my regret
will wash away some how
but i can not forget
the way i feel right now

in these small hours
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away but these small hours
these small hours, still remain,
still remain
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away
but these small hours
these little wonders still remain

My husband and I danced to Billy Joel's version of "When You Wish Upon a Star" at our daughter's wedding. It's a good version to dance to, and would work for any family member combination.

"Candle on the Water" (Pete's Dragon)

and on the funny side---He's a Tramp by Peggy Lee (from Lady and the Tramp)

My daughter just got married on Feb 23 and we used songs in the wedding itself.

From the Cinderella Instrumental CD.
During the Unity Candle lighting she used the instrumental "So this is Love" and when the minister announced them man and wife she used "Royal Fanfare and Reception at the Palace". It was so nice and we got so many asking us about our music. What's so special is that she's not a Disney fan like me but she wanted that day special for me too.
