Challenge 2 - The Game Changer
Before I begin with my proposal, I would like to share a SUPER important piece of information about my resort. Going along with the critiques I got for challenge 1, I will be moving my location of the resort. The new location will be a huge change in scenery. It’s 61.87 miles into the Gulf of Mexico on a large island! Here’s how it would work. From Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, you could take a high-speed train to Galveston. Then, you could take another high-speed train to the Disneyland Resort Island. You could also take a high-speed train from New Orleans, directly to the island. I figured you could also take a large ferry to the island, though it would take a little bit longer to arrive at the resort. This location is also fixing Sam’s problem with no water near the resort. Now the resort is surrounded by it! The new location is shown on the map below. The resort is now renamed... The Disneyland Gulf Resort. Now onto challenge number 2!
Welcome to Disneyland Park!
This is the Disneyland Resort’s headliner park. It focuses on the imagination and that everyone is a child at heart. And, as Walt himself said, it focuses on Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy. It is primarily based off of “Magic Kingdom” style parks, but with different twists and surprises.
Here is the park map. Sorry for the sideways photo.
Main Street U.S.A. – You enter through the infamous train station and enter onto Main Street U.S.A. At the end of Main Street closest to the castle is the Elias Gardens, which provide a tranquil setting in place of a busy hub and there are bridges to many of the lands.
Attractions:
Disneyland Railroad – This version of the train takes guests around the perimeter of the park. Also, this version travels at different elevations and also travels in the park at some points.
Main Street Vehicles – These vehicles transport guests up and down Main Street U.S.A. These vehicles range from horse drawn trolleys to double decker “buses”.
Main Street Cinema – This is a real working cinema, which shows many of the popular cartoons of the 1930’s and 1940’s. You can also get a keepsake ticket from the ticket booth to take home.
The Mary Poppins Journey – Enter though the Banks family home and wander through until you reach the back door and enter into the park. Then you board a ride vehicle, which is a ride vehicle similar to the one at the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh but White, Red and Pink and with 2 carousel horses. You wander through and meet many famous Mary Poppins characters such as the Penguins. Next, you wander onto the rooftops of London for the finale scene and wave goodbye to Bert and the chimneysweeps!
Adventureland – This Adventureland is based off of the jungles of South America, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
Attractions:
Jungle Cruise – Get into a small boat and venture on a 10-day expedition of the jungles of the world. Get up close with Audio Animatronic Animals (More advanced and lifelike then current versions) and along the way listen to corny jokes told by the skipper.
Tarzan’s Tree house – Climb up into Tarzan’s home amidst the branches and leaves. See up-close what Tarzan’s life is like.
Fire Mountain – Based off of an attraction that was never made, this roller coaster brings you into the depths of Fire Mountain, which is an active volcano. Enter at the bottom of the mountain and work you way down to the bubbling lava pools in the depths of the Volcano. Then board a vehicle and you are on your way. This rides takes you on a twisting and turning adventure inside and outside of the volcano.
Lava Pool Splash Zone – A water play area meant for the little ones while their siblings ride Fire Mountain.
Skull Rock Rapids – A flume ride that takes you through Skull Rock. Help Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael save Tinker Bell from Captain Hook’s grasp. This may lead to a sudden drop down a waterfall. The vehicle for this ride is a small pirate ship that can sit 20 guests at one time.
Pirates of the Caribbean – The same as the one in Disneyland but with a few added theming elements to make it fit better into Adventureland. Also, there are no drops here as Skull Rock Rapids is right next-door and the train tracks are elevated.
Aladdin’s Magic Carpets – A ride that takes you through the Caves of Wonder and over the market place that Aladdin steals the bread. Enter through the Cave of Wonders and try to escape! When you finally do, fly over the Market place with a Whole New World playing in the background.
Fantasyland – This land is the heart of the park. Centered on the idea that everyone is a child at heart and many classic Disney movies are represented here. The design of this version is a medieval village in the European countryside.
Attractions:
King Arthur’s Carousel – A carousel with many ornate horses.
Peter Pan’s Flight – Fly over the rooftops of London and arrive in Netherland. All of a sudden, Wendy, John, Michael and the Lost Boys are capture by Captain Hook and Peter Pan must save them! Ultimately, Peter wins and they live happily ever after.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride – Take a journey through Mr. Toad’s estate and go on an amazing adventure! Based off of the Magic Kingdom version, this ride has two loading areas and two tracks.
It’s a small world – Hop in a boat and take a journey through the countries of the world and listen to their native children sing the catchy song “it’s a small world”.
Alice in Wonderland – Hop in a caterpillar car and travel to wonderland with Alice. Fight off the queen of hearts and travel after the white rabbit who is trying not to be late.
Mad Tea Party - The same teacups that are at Disneyland!
Pooh’s Honey Adventure – Get in a Honey Pot and help Pooh and his friends find as many Honey pots as possible. This ride is basically a cross between Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Pooh’s Honey Hunt. This is a “shooting” attraction where guests must “shoot” as many Honey pots as possible. The winner then gets a personal addressing from Pooh at the end of the ride.
Cinderella’s Royal Court – Come visit Cinderella’s house where she lives with her step-mother and step sisters. Board a vehicle and travel through a retelling of the Cinderella story.
Storybook Castle – The icon for the park, it is similar to Shanghai Disneyland’s castle but has no interior atrium and only has a character restaurant.
Snow White’s Scary Adventure’s – Escape the evil queen’s grasp as Snow White tries to find her true love.
Beauty and the Beast: The Tale as old as time – Join Belle in an amazing attraction experience. Hop in a rose themed vehicle and ride through the retelling of the Tale as old as time.
Frontierland – This land takes you back to the times of the old west and when cowboys were roaming the streets.
Attractions:
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – The same, loved attraction as always! But this time it’s on an island, like the Paris version, and much longer. You enter through a “makeshift” shack and climb up the mountain to the loading area. Then, you plunge into the depths of the canyon and you’re riding the wildest ride in the wilderness! This version also includes the interactive queue that was introduced at WDW.
Splash Mountain – Ride in a log into your laughing place! Venture into the mountain and get ready to be soaked! Pass by the famous scenes of Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear trying to capture Br’er Rabbit for their dinner. As they finally catch Br’er Rabbit, take the plunge down Chickapin Hill into the Briar Patch to escape the Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear.
Western Stage Coach Expedition – Get in a stagecoach and ride along through the frontier!
Tom Sawyer Mines - Travel through the mines try to get out! But watch out for falling rocks and dead-ends!
Country Bear Jamboree - Come in and sing along to your favorite country tunes sung by none other than the Country Bears!
Mickey's Winter Village - This land is similar to Mickey's Toontown in a sense but has a less cartoonish feel. Think off a small cartoon, alpine village with a courtyard in the middle where Mickey and the gang go during the winter to vacation. The roofs are covered with fake snow and every night, fake snow is blown throughout the land.
Attractions:
Mickey's Winter House - Walk through the house Mickey stays in during the cold winter months.
Minnie's Winter House - Walk though the house Minnie stays in during the cold winter months.
Chip and Dale's Skating Rink - This is a whip type ride themed after Chip and Dale, as well as ice!
Goofy's Sledding Company - A children's coaster that is the same layout as the barnstormer but the theming and vehicles are different. The vehicles look like sleds and the theming is a hill that you are sledding on.
Minnie's Bow-tique - Similar to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique but with bows. AT the end of the experience you get to meet Minnie and Daisy!
Tommorowland - The theme for this Tommorowland is NOT the future that never was. It's the future that people dream of today. If that doesn't turn into a reality, it will be in all my power to get it fixed.
Attractions:
Space Mountain - Blast off into space on your very own rocket ship! This version of the classic attraction is most similar to Disneyland's. At the very beginning, after you start moving, there is a small launch where you go from 0 to 25 miles per hour in 4 seconds. This version has two sides of track and uses the same vehicle that Disneyland does.
Time Warp - Get in a time machine and blast off to the future. You will see hover boards, flying cars and even rocket boots! Then return to the present time in awe of the future.
Tommorowland Transit Authority Highway in the Sky - The people mover! This version is much longer and takes a much more vast route than it's siblings.
Autopia - A more futuristic Autopia! This version is also a little bit longer and had 3 lanes.
Astro Orbiter - Fly high in the sky with the planets of the galaxy right next to you.
Walle: The story - Travel through the story of Walle: and it will definitely provide something for your kids to do, while their older siblings ride space mountain!
Buzz Light Year's Space Ranger Spin - Because the park already has a shooting game in Fantasyland, then this one will be a bit shorter then its cousins in Florida and California. This version is more of a dark ride then a shooting game and follows the storyline that Buzz Light Year needs your help to defeat Emperor Zerg. Also, there are no guns on the vehicle. Instead there is a joystick that let's you spin the vehicle however you want!
Mini Land : Star Wars Land -
Attractions:
Star Tours: The Adventures Continue - Who is the rebel spy? Get in the Starspeeder 1000 and take a flight in the galaxy far, far away! And may the force be with you!
Speeder Bike Racing - Get on a speeder bike and race against your friends and family. This is like the Radiator Springs Racers racing sequence but with a Star Wars theme.
Jedi Training Academy - This is the same show that is at Walt Disney World. The major fix though is that children up to 15 can participate. And, once a day, there will be an adult show where the little ones can watch their folks be a Jedi with them!
Edison's Square - The theme of this land is imagination and inventing new ideas that will improve the world around us. This land is the smallest of the seven lands.
Attractions:
Carousel of Progress - The same attraction that is at the Magic Kingdom.
Edison's Adventure - A dark ride following the story of Thomas Edison and the invention of the lightbulb. This ride includes highly detailed Audio Animatronics and amazing special effects.
Concept Art:
Skull Rock Rapids Main Flume and Exterior in Adventureland.
The outside of Cinderella's Royal Court in Fantasyland.
Rough Concept art for Fire Mountain in Adventureland.
