Weather. What to pack.

Sooooo, locals. Another question. End of April & beginning of May. What to pack? Where we live it's humid so we always wear shorts and tshirts. Should we bring jeans or throw some sweatshirts on in the evening? Curious.

I'd go with the latter, but shorts never hurt. Still, I suggest jeans, t-shirt and a jacket.

I am not a local, but i have visited DL in both May and September and have never worn shorts.
The weather was just perfect...and not hot enough to warrant wearing them.
Jeans and t-shirts, yes...and a zip-up sweatshirt for the evenings can come in handy.

Of course everyone is different. It has to be fairly hot and humid for me to want to wear shorts, and CA has so far not yielded that kind of weather when i have visited.

CA is a completely different weather experience if you are comparing it to FL.
It will be a refreshing change...and make your Park visits even more enjoyable, that is for sure!

:)

We've been to DLR twice (both time last year) - once in May, once in December. During both trips, I wore sweatshirts at least some of the evenings, and that's rare for me. Some mornings were cool too, but then when the sun gets higher, it suddenly becomes warm. So, it was shorts and a tee during the day, then bam, sweatshirt. Sometimes even jeans!

I'll be there the same time as Kelly and I'm going to definitely pack jeans and a sweatshirt or two! I get cold VERY easily and I'm guessing temps won't be anything like WDW is in May!

Maybe @WDWFigment can shed some light on this one? Tom - any suggestions?

My son lives in Hollywood. The last time I visited him was the first week of May, I wore capris and cotton jackets and was very comfortable. It was hot enough for shorts in the afternoons, but not the mornings and evenings so I just wore the capris and jeans. He told me that the weather has been different the last few years just like the rest of the country. They have had unusually hot and unusually cold weather.

Typical Cali weather is cool mornings (50's) afternoon it gets into the high 70's then an afternoon breeze, cool in the evening (50's) with the breeze. Usually it's best to wear shorts or jeans and a t-shirt then bring a light jacket for the evening.

There is also a marine layer that is typical during May and June. It is overcast and keeps things cool throughout the day with the sun only poking out late in the day. If there is a heat wave it can get into the 80's or 90's but no humidity. Just check the 10 day forecast before you leave.

Pack layers. That time of year, SoCal can range from 30-80 degrees in the same day. (Or more the week @Tom was there!) On the plus side, no need to pack an umbrella!

Thanks, Tom! I hadn't been to your blog in a while but just this week spent hours pouring over your DL food info. Good stuff! Thanks ever so much for the weather/packing tips. Still need to put in more time over on your blog. ;)

Hope all is well with you & Sarah. My best to y'all both, as always.

Stop reading the blog. When it comes to Disneyland, it's for people who have no experience with Disney. The only thing you need to know is to target RSR as early as possible.

Besides that...you're a veteran. Your baseline knowledge is all the preparation you need. You are only spoiling Disneyland by reading about it.

Agreed. I think I should stop the reading, too. ;)

Shoot, that's what I've been telling people all along. I have an entire website that just says, "Stop reading Bricker's blog!" It generates a ton of revenue from ads.
