Hey Everyone,

My wife and I are planning a little getaway to WDW in addition to our big planned trip next April during this time period. I've heard its the hurricane season but I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the weather conditions during this time period and maybe some "dos" and "donts"? Thanks!:king:

At that time of year it is very hot and humid, and there is usually an afternoon thundershower that does nothing to cool things off. You need to get out to the parks early, then come back to your hotel for a break during the afternoon heat, and then back to the parks at night. Make full use of FastPass since the parks will be quite crowded at that time (lots of tour groups too), and drink plenty of water!

Oh, and have a great time too! :)

People will try and scare you off, but don't listen. Yes, it is hot and humid, but nothing you can't survive. It is also busy, but not like Christmas or Spring Break. Take advantage of afternoon pool breaks and be sure to hit the parks after sundown. I always enjoy the parks after dark no matter what the weather is like.

We use to go every July, but we decided we couldn't handle the heat anymore, especially with three small children so we now go in December (LOL). Just be sure to drink lots of water and take breaks now and then. Also, more than likely there will be a rain shower at least once a day, but just put on a poncho and keep on having fun. Even though it was hot and humid on our trips we still always had a blast!

I wasn't trying to scare anyone off - I just remember what our first experience was like when we went in July - a little warning would have helped us a lot!

First off "Welcome Home!". Secondly, where are you staying? We'll be at BWV from 21-29JUL. If you stay at SSR, you'll love it. We were there from 3-11DEC05 and loved the place.

 Welcome! First off, I have a ton of family in northern CA, various locations, mostly small towns. (Mt. Shasta, Tulelake, Dunsmuir) Second, and I hate to say it, is this....humidity is bad in Florida in the summer. Think sauna and relentless. I know that northern CA does not experience the kind of weather in the summer that FL does, heat is one thing but the humidity makes it feel much hotter than it really is. Ok, so now here's what to do, go early in the day, drink a ton of water, stay in shade when you can and take a break in the middle of the day, swim, nap, cool off, eat a meal when you are cooled off and then go again in the evening when the sun goes down. Sounds like you have a long trip planned so pace yourselves and you'll be fine. Most of all, enjoy!

I worked there last summer and was outside every day
it is hot -- very hot
but you can easily work around it

plan for a thunderstorm sometime between 2-5pm for about 20-45mins
find inside activities from about 11am-2pm (really hot times)
drink water all the time
hit evening extra magic hours
don't plan on going to the 2:30-ish show of Lights, Motors, Action -- it usually gets rained out (happened 4 times to me)
crowds aren't too bad, but use Fastpasses

I have it good authority the forecast July 15th thru 26th - 95 degrees, 90% humidity, rain at 3:30.
Except the 23rd which due to a cold front coming through will be 94 degrees.

We used to always avoid the summer with thoughts of heat and crowds, but in the two times we've done it, we've had a great time. Once was a last minute adult getaway with the kids away at camp and the other was in association with a Disney Cruise. There are plenty of ways to break from the heat, so it isn't too much of an issue.

As was already said, get an early start, enjoy the parks with modest crowds then take an afternoon break. MK and AK get busy after lunch, but there have been days when Epcot is very open.

First thanks everyone for the well wishes and welcomes! My wife and I recently bought a house in December and we given a Free Vacation for doing so. The first thing that came to mind was Orlando and while Disney Property obviously isn't included there are three hotels, Embassy Suites, Rosen Centre and I forget what the other is. We get 11 nights and free airline so we couldn't think of a better place to go than WDW.

Its hot huh? Darn....I was hoping for a cooler atmosphere but in Brentwood it gets to 110 easy in July so 90 will be a welcome change....although it isn't humid....

Lol. Thanks for the advice and any more is definitely welcome! :king:

As someone who has to live through the hot and humid conditions of central florida let me tell u this be prepared to be warm! Unfortunately during this time of the year and at WDW especially it becomes slightly hard to breathe b/c of the all the concrete mixed with the humidty. Try to avoid the soft drinks at all costs b/c all they're gonna do is make you u sluggish, drink lots of water and USE THE POOL TO YOUR ADVANTAGE! When I go during that time of year I tend to wear things like basketball shorts or other kinds of thin shorts that keep u cool and let your body breathe and lots of cotton!
Overall enjoy your vacation and be sure to be there when the parks OPEN!
