We need 5

Ts's for our five nights. Since I am taking my sis who has never been to WDW, I want to pick 5 good places to take her to dine. Of the new ones that I wanted to try are: San Angel, Coral Reef (only been here for lunch, not dinner), Rose & Crown, 50's Prime Time and Spoodles. Of the ones I've been to and love: BOMA and WCC, those are my favorites. Others we have been to and liked are Cape May, LeCellier, Kona and Ohana to name a few. So of these which 5 would you choose? It's for someone who has never been there. Thanks for any input.:king:

Of that list that you posted, we are planning on eating at Le Cellier and Spoodles on our next trip (we've never done either before), so I guess I can safely say that I would do those two. I've been to Coral Reef and San Angel, and we liked them both. I would also like to try Cape May or Ohana sometime.

The only one we have tried of the 5 you have listed is the Rose & Crown. Really liked it - food was good (DD & I split the steak & fish entree, then ordered 2 desserts) and the service and atmosphere was excellent. Time it right and you've got front row viewing for Illuminations.

I'd pick 5 where the theming really stands out.
Of the ones you've listed, my choices would be
Boma
Coral Reef
50's Prime Time
Le Cellier
'Ohana

I might swap out Coral Reef for Chef Mickey's, which wasn't on your list. The food isn't outstanding there but it is SO Disney and gives you a good reason to visit and tour the Contemporary.

San Angel also has great theming, but I didn't like the food so much, and you can enjoy the theming by just walking inside the building.

When are you going? Have you hit your 180 day mark yet?

I have eaten at them all with the exception of Ohana and Kona. I like the following.

I am assuming you want these for dinner. These are not in any order.

50's Prime time
Cape May
LeCellier
Spoodles
San angel

This won't be until wayyy into next year sometime, so not even close to the 180 day mark. But I am such a planning fanatic and I really want my sis to have an enjoyable time! I guess it comes down to do I want to just do all new places that I have never been to or do I mind repeating some of my favs for her (since I usually like to do different places on each visit)? Although I do agree with these for theming:Boma
Coral Reef
50's Prime Time
Le Cellier
'Ohana
Thanks. I'll probably be back once I narrow it down a little more.

We feel Chef Mickey's is way over rated. Try it on the last 2 trips and very dissappointed both times. Most agree the food is just ok. Our main dissappointment is the characters just seem to whip by and barely spend time for an autograph or a picture compared to many of the other character meals. The service seems much less attentative. Will not be doing it next visit.

I know this wasn't on your list but I love the Beirgarten in Germany.....the theming, the entertainment, the buffet (delicious!) and the extra large mugs of dark lager which leads to new friends with the people at the next table.

I also love the 50's Prime Time Cafe in MGM.

Spoodles is a great choice for a night on the boardwalk....it is a lively atmosphere and very different than the parks.

Ohana's a great choice just to be able to absorb the atmosphere of the Poly

and

I love San Angel Inn for the atmosphere.....I love that it seems like a cool Mexican evening on a hot Florida day.

Wherever you pick, Bon Apetite

WOW, so many choices. If I were picking 5 for dinner I'd go with
Coral Reef
Rose & Crown (ask for outside seating)
Le Cellier
Ohana
Boma

Now I'm not actually a fan of the food at Boma, but dinner and a walk around the resort is very nice. I also LOVE WCC but for breakfast. Please make sure to tell us what you decide on.

I've only been to a few myself. I've been to 50's PTC during lunch, and their food was delicious! They have the best fried chicken and mash potatoes and gravy ever!

Why don't you add a character meal? Maybe CRT or CP for MK for breakfast. Your sister may enjoy that a lot.

Thanks everyone. I'm noticing a trend here, so definitely getting it narrowed down. It seems the tops are: 50's Prime, LeCellier, Coral Reef, Ohana, Boma and one of my fav's/choices WCC. I didn't put a character meal in, only because my sis is bringing her 2 adult kids. Her hubby wanted NOTHING to do with Disney. :fork: So this makes it even more important that they have a REALLY good time! :ROFLOL: I know evil, but ughhh. As soon as she mentioned Disney he walked out of the room shaking his head no. :brick: OK, I'm off my soapbox. Now back to planning a fab vacation for her and the kids.

Let me guess, he's never been to Disney, but thinks he knows everything about it and its "just for kids"? :)

On your list, I'd say:

San Angel
Rose & Crown
Spoodles
Boma
LeCellier

But if I might suggest, switch out Boma for Jiko. While Boma is quite good, I personally like it better for breakfast than dinner. Jiko, while a little more expensive, is well worth it and it will add a very fine dinning experience to your trip. If you want to give her a Disney experience, thats a good one to do.

I'd also change out Rose and Crown to something more special and entertaining like Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco. Good food and entertainment. Another Dinsey experience.

Have fun!

You got it! :D But I was thinking they aren't going to be able to see Downtown Disney unless we eat there. Maybe I will just take them to Goofy's Candy Co for a treat! :slurp:

I don't know...loved the Lobster Bisque at Coral Reef! Plus, I thought it would be nice to try this place for dinner. Thanks

Well you can't go wrong with most of the ones on your list

I would definatly say
Ohana, Boma, Whispering Canyon are sure wins whenever.

50's prime time is always fun as well, but can be a bit crowded at the table with larger groups.

Crystal Palace is a nice all around buffet if you are in the kingdom, but I prefer Liberty Tree Tavern for table service in the kingdom by a slight margin. You won't be sorry with either of those.

Le Cellier is a great romantic little spot with darkened lighting and excellent food. but as mentioned before - book early..... it's a pain to get due it's small overall size and high demand.

whatever you choose: Enjoy!
Marcus

San Angel, in my experiences has always been better for lunch than dinner. but I would still pass on this one for other restaurants.

San Angel Inn has the best atmosphere in the park and the food is real close to authentic mexican, not tex-mex.

Coral Reef would have to be the next best atmosphere with the aquarium, the food is good but not outstanding.

LeCellier has very good food and you feel like you are eating in the wine cellar of a castle.

50's prime time is alot of fun and the food is delicious.

Liberty Tree Tavern vs. Crystal palace: The only problem with crystal palace is that the food is buffet food, the same can be found at all the other buffets in disney. Liberty tree tavern has a sit-down "family style" meal, meaning that the food comes out on platters and you just pass it around the table.

I have eaten at all of the restaurants and you won't do wrong dining at any one of them.
