We have been joking about joining for a few weeks now and hubby just made the call and JOINED!!

We have our member number and everything! Does that make it official?

Ya!!!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Welcome home.

I was wondering what you decided. Our next (and frist ad DVC members) will be March 2003, when are you going?

I still wish we would of bought DCV also, but VWL has it advantages.

BTW it apears that the whole oder food and have it in your room is worthless. The prices are just as high as if you buy from any WDW store and not a very good selection.

Tell me when they send your into package, book and matted picture of your new "home". We also got a DVC backpack. we call it our 12 thousand dollar back pack.

I am happy for you (I remember the day four us, it was only 6 months ago!

Welcome to the club. It was the best investment we ever made. We just bought 100 more points at Vero (they are trying to sell out and giving a great deal) and now have 320. I love it. This past summer we used our points at Disneyland in CA. This March, we are staying at BCV for 4 nights. Summer 2004, we have a big trip planned - Alaskan Cruise, San Francisco, and Disneyland again. We shall see. BTW, it is nice to use your points for the Disney Cruise, you can also pay cash for your other party members, so it is easy.

Welcome aboard! There's nothing like "going home". Just got back from the 3 day cruise... you have to do it if you haven't already! We're doing a 7 day in February!

Congratulations!
We've been members at Boardwalk since 1999--a spur of the moment decision that we made on the last day of our honeymoon. We love it. My sister just bought points at the Beach Club, and we are all staying there in Jan. I can't wait. You'll be happy you joined, congratulations!!

Randy Kruger was our guide and Hubby was very happy with him. I didn't talk to him too much.

I still can't believe we are members. I am going to check out the website today. It kept locking up my PC at home with the PDF files. Is it worthwhile?

ok, i'm starting to feel a little left out now....am i like the only person who doesn't like being a dvc member? i mean, sure it has its advantages, but still....there's just something about it that i don't like. maybe its the small selection of wdw property resorts, i dunno, but i was much happier when my family was not dvc member.

Well, when we bought more points recently, we felt that it was more vacations for the next 40 years. Also, the DVC rooms are much larger than most other resorts. You also cannot beat the value, since resort prices will keep going up.

Not to argue, but you can use your points at (nearly) any resort on WDW property. There are those who argue that the $/point makes these options less attractive than cash, but there is little explicit limit on where you can stay.

What changed to make you less happy when you became a DVC member? [I will grant, immediately, that the perks have been reduced -- is this the cause of your disatisfaction?]

I am sorry but it annoys me when anyone bashes the DVC. I have never been to a "purchase presentation: where the atmosphere was less about making sure I bought and more about making sure it was right for me. My guide is the best and I have since revisited twice to purchase new points. It is one of the best investments (aside from a house and retirement fund) that I have ever made. We have only stayed/used Disney properties so far, including the cruise and have had a blast. We have even used our points at Disneyland in CA. You had a choice to join DVC, nobody forced you, and if you do not like it, Disney will buy it back at fair market value and sell it to someone else. Be happy that you have guaranteed yourself vacation accomodations (and tickets at DLP) for the next 40 years.

<Stepping down off of soapbox>

Anyone else out there love DVC like I do? I have enountered many members (including some on the video) from all over the world, and the only ones I have found who dislike it are on this board. DVC makes the avergae timeshare look cheap!
