Pre-Trip WE HAVE TO GO BACK! (April 2016)

Wow.

Well, this is quite a surprise!

We JUST got back from Disney on 9/26!! I hadn't been in ten years, and honestly didn't expect to be back for quite some time, but as luck would have it, it looks like we are going to be back in just SIX SHORT MONTHS!! I'm seriously still kind of in shock!

So here is a bit of back story to explain..My co worker has told me that her and her significant other are going to start trying for a baby...right now. I'm totally cool with this except that we normally vacation in September, and really any way it plays out if she were to be successful in the new few months, it would mean no vacation or any time off for me for up to 3 months. We always go to the beach, and so my brain started racking. We could go in early spring, but no, too cold, and basically it just went like that and me calculating out how many months from each month and blah blah. It got overwhelming. I knew that no matter what, I'd be pretty safe in April or May but it's not warm enough for the beach. Disney briefly came to mind but I thought "no way will i be able to talk my husband into going back this soon!" So all day today I looked up prices with the help of my mom (remember, she planned out entire vacation!) and I came home in hopes of trying to convince my husband that I think this is the best thing to do in regards to the uncertainty of my coworker being out next year. It didn't take much convincing! He was surprised that we could stay for as cheap as we could and that was it! We decided we are going to do it! I am giddy like a school girl!

I LOVE my beach trips, and the fact that I'm so excited about this is a bit surprising! So that's that! This is SUPER early in the planning process (and that step is OMG i'm still in shock!) and I know all of almost NOTHING right now except that we will be staying in a Value this time around since we are footing the bill. LOL

Anyway, that's all I've got right now. I honestly can't believe it! Stick around!

Thanks everyone! My gut tells me that I'd want to stay somewhere more resort like, but I have years to think about it!

We decided that we are going to the beach next year, instead of Disney. While Harper would be free next year, we could still save QUITE a lot by going to the beach instead. We really do miss it, and want to get back there. It's been several years! We will still be making our big trip back to WDW in 2018!

In other news, we are 17 days out now. It still doesn't seem real!! Is that weird? We have packed nothing. We haven't really done a thing yet in terms of this vacation. I don't know what's going on with me! I'm usually packed so early, but I'm just kind of like "meh, we'll get it done" and being mellow about it. It's not that I'm not excited, I just don't feel like packing! it's so overwhelming packing for a small child.

As always, my Step dad is making shirts for Harper for our trip! The Stitch one is for breakfast at Ohana, and the other shirt is for the ride down! He is making another one with Minnie on it for the 2nd day of the trip! He's awesome!

Well, we are leaving in 12 days! (My phone says 10, but is not accurate when I count it out on the calendar. Not sure how that got that far off!) We only have this week, and next week we are leaving on Friday!!!! Woohooooo!

There has been a change of plans for departure day. We were originally planning on leaving first thing when we got up, but we were a little bummed about making the trip down without my parents as we always "caravan" with them. They are a great help to us when we need help with Harper at stops, and I thought long and hard about it, and decided to leave around the same time as my parents which will be around 1:30pm now on Friday. We are going to use this morning to pack the car, help take my mom's dog to be boarded, and I'm going to get my nails done the day we leave to kill some time and so I don't have to rush to do it after work one night! My mom and step dad both work a half day on Friday, but my husband and I are off. Harper will be able to play and burn herself out a bit before we throw her in the car for a long time. We are also not taking I-95 for the first part of the trip this year either. I think we are taking I-81S to 77 and going into NC that way! We are also planning on not driving into the late hours of the night either so we can still get a decent amount of sleep.

So here we are! Less than 2 weeks out! We still have a good bit of packing to do, and last minute stuff, but that's what makes it exciting!

My wife and I both love WDW. But going too much started agitating my wife. We went 5 times in 2yrs and she started saying it was too much our last trip of those 5. Since we've gone once and that was 14 months after that streak of 5. As we're trying for kids now, she says she doesn't want to go until our baby is atleast 3 months old. When we go isn't always our choice being that my parents have a timeshare and they decide when to book it and there are other grandkids that can enjoy it now. As of now if like for our next trip to be in a year. Late April of 2017. So my advice is to not make trips to compact bc not everyone is perfectly ok with going to WDW every 3-4 months.

is this in response to my thread? just a little confused. LOL

The only reason we are going to Disney 6 months apart is because my co worker got pregnant, and I cannot go on vacation when I normally do in September because that is when her baby is due. Our next trip to Disney is not until 2018. I guess I'm just not sure what your post if referring to! Not trying to be smart, just genuinely confused because you didn't quote whatever it is you are replying to.

SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!!

We are 9 days out! Holy cow! It still doesn't seem real. We still are not packed. At this point we are going to have to wait until this weekend to get it done. We need to wash up our last minute stuff and get it packed.

I can't believe I'm leaving NEXT WEEK! It's been so chilly here in MD after it was really warm, so I'm really excited about being able to have some warmer weather and go swimming!

Harper woke up this morning snotty, congested, and barely slept last night. I'm pretty sure she's not sick, and it's just allergies, but SERIOUSLY!? That happened last year too, and I felt awful the night before we left as well.

Let's just hope that if it IS a cold, that it runs it's course now, and it's gone by next Friday. We did take her to Monkey Joe's this past weekend, so she may have picked up something. I forgot I was keeping her in a bubble so she didn't get sick!!:p

Thanks @figmentfan423 !

I retract my "allergies" statement and change it to SHE'S DEFINITLEY SICK. :(

She woke up last night burning up, sweating through her clothes. Her temp was 100.7 and we gave her some motrin so she'd go back to sleep. Her nose is sooo runny and her little eyes are watering too. I guess it could be a mixture of both cold and allergies. My DH stayed home with her today so she can get some rest.

*sigh*

In other news, only FOUR days of work left not counting today! I can hardly believe it!!! This time next week, i'll probably be getting my nails done and anxiously waiting to get out of town!!

Disney CURSE?!? :eek::mad:

Harper was worse on Saturday. When she woke up her eyes were completely crusted shut. When we finally did get them open, she had really red eye lids and red under eyes. We called the Ped and they wanted to see her. Doc took one look in her ear and said "oh my. she has a raging ear infection! let me just look in the other side---oh yeah! double ear infection" :banghead:

I feel so awful. We thought she just had a cold until her eyes got all goopy. She didn't pull at them, or anything, so we just had no idea. She's on antibiotics, and eye drops and she's really coming around now. She's got a little bit of a cough, but she's been back to pretty good spirits since yesterday.

Next? Hubby is feeling sick now. Sore throat, tired, exhausted. Honestly, I can't take it!! I also have been dealing with a scratchy throat/headache for a few days, but I don't feel sick so I'm hoping it's just allergies.

Same exact thing happened last year. Harper got sick, and then hubby and I both were sick when we left.

Anyway, we leave FRIDAY! that's just 4 short days from now! We got a good bit of packing done this weekend, but everything that is left is stuff that truly has to wait until the last minute. So this week is going to be focused on drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep, and trying not to stress out!
