We came THIS CLOSE to the castle suite!!!

Oh Meyla Weyla
Someone on another forum won like that. She is a local and her parents were there and won. They called her up to come and stay in the suite.

I guess if you really really really cannot stay (plane leaving, presnetation to the CEO tomorrow morning, etc) you can allways get the "equivalent prize". I think (if I remember correctly) its somewhere in the order of $500 - thats the cash value placed on a night in the castle (at least for the purposes of this contest)

That's what I was wondering, what would happen if they picked someone who couldn't stay the night for whatever reason... glad to know there is a cash prize just in case. Not that I would turn the room down myself, but ya never know. It would really stink to be handed that prize when your flight home leaves in 5 hours

I had the opportunity to meet two of the dream squad members. They were hanging around in front of the fountain at EPCOT. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything for my family :( We were hoping for the ultimate fast pass things. We saw quite a few of those floating around. The guy told us that he was handing out a lot of key chains, stickers and stuff like that. After the fact we thought maybe we should have asked them to grant our wish!!

It's completely random, but early in December when I went on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, our tour guide said that just looking at the stats, the most castle suite prizes have been given out at Disney's Hollywood Studios, particularly Star Tours.

Edit: We actually won something our past trip. Mickey Ears! I saw 2 members go down the exit of the friendship boat docks near Morocco. I thought to myself, darn the people exiting will be getting something! So people came up with nothing. We were headed towards Germany, but figured we would head on the boats just to see what was going on. Sure enough, they were at the entrance giving away hats! So we won some, then took the boat towards the entrance of World Showcase. We just stayed on since we were heading to Germany anyway, and two more members entered the boat. Turns out they were just headed out toward the other two to help out. One of the guys was really funny on our boat ride back. :) That's it.

Actually, I don't think that's true, is it?

I don't think you get anything if you turn down the suite and it just goes back into the pot for someone else to win.

Correct, from what I was told if someone turns down a prize, then it's is randomly given somewhere else (could even be a different park). They try up to 3 times, and if it's 3 no's then it goes un-given...... if that made any sense, haha

My luck is usually the person right after me winds. Once I was at Sears and they gave 1k shopping spree to the person behind me. This was years agao. Another time i was Best Buy and they gave the 1 thousanth person who walked thru the door a big screen tv. I was 999. Another one I was at a car dealership and they gave out keys to see who won the car. I the guy behind me in line won the thing.

Arghh

Remind me to follow you next time you leave your house! I will casually walk in behind you everywhere you go and reap the rewards! ;) :ROFLOL:

Its not true, you either stay in the suite, or let the computer have another go. There is no equivelency prize

When we visited in May, we noticed the Dream Squad with a cople (no children) in the Land completing some paperwork at the table eating area. I told my husband then I bet that they won a night in the castle.

Well, the sheer fact that Epcot's "Where the fire?" is used as an award location tends to slant things toward awarding families pirzes versus singles or adult groups.

didn't 3 random frat guys win the night in the castle suite once? :D That doesn't sound like a family with kids to me.

I"VE Had the opportunity to meet many castle winners. I"ve met the six college guys that won. I"ve met a woman all by herself that won and stayed in the suite alone. Turns out she is a caregiver who was on a little break and she won. I"ve met families of nine who had to leave three people back at the hotel because the suite only holds six. Soarin" was chosen two days in a row for winners. That is what i know.

You're right. They even asked if they could have a toga party also! Heard that from the guy waiting at the door for them to check in.
