One of the problems for samping water bodies for colony forming units (for bacteria), is that it is 18 to 24 hours after the sample has been taken, before results are available. When the counts get high the beach areas are closed. I'm sure that Disney would not want to have to post that Beach at Wilderness Lodge (used for example only) is closed due to high levels of bacteria. Disney is better off keeping guests from swimming in the lakes around the world. With two water parks and dozens of pools there are enough places to swim without too much worry.

The triathalon was going on while we were there earlier this month and part of that is swimming out to a buoy in Seven Seas Lagoon from one of the beaches in front of the MK. Ick!
