Has anyone seen both WDW's and DL's Fantasmic? I want to know what the differences are.

Dragon might be down for 6 months.

If I were you, I'd go to DLR but during 2012 when DCA and hopefully DL will be very, very bright new and shiny :)

Disneyland's is great, but I personally don't think the differences put it above Orlando's from a show standpoint. What makes the Florida version better, in my opinion, is the dedicated theater for the show. Being cramped back into that tiny space in Disneyland, despite the good job they do with crowd control, detracts from the experience.

The video really helped! thanks!:) I do agree that Fantasmic! in HS having its own dedicated theater is better. what is wrong with a Pocahontas scene?

Ok, so after YEARS of seeing WDW's Fantasmic, I finally got to see DL's this past summer. I went in with this "hype" that theirs was better.

Truth is, both have their pros and cons. I LOVE the Dumbo, Peter Pan sections of DL's Fantasmic. However, the Pocahontas section has a much smoother transition to the princesses and romance stuff.

And come on? Sorcerer Mickey on a mountain versus a hut? No contest! And the ampitheater versus sitting on the floor behind the railing (I was front row center but only because my cousin is a DL expert to my WDW expert and fought for those seats).

I love both.....now bring World of Color in here and we got trouble a debate ;)

Nothing is wrong with Pocahontas! It's one of my favorite parts of the WDW show, and I say that as a huge Peter Pan fan! But I love Pocahontas too. It's easily one of my favorite post-Walt, Disney Animated Classics from the contemporary era, and "Colors Of the Wind" is for my taste one of the most beautiful Disney songs ever written, from any era!

Oh boy! This question is going to spark some passionate responses. Beware :)

Personally I'm a fan of WDW Fantasmic. I have not seen DL's Fantasmic live. But have seen various versions of it in it's entirety on youtube. Based on what I've seen of the DL version, I still like the WDW version better.

Now, having said that, there are a couple pieces of the DL version I wouldn't mind seeing in WDW. I don't "dislike" the Pocohanthas scene. However, I would't mind if they replaced it with the Peter Pan scene from DL. So that one goes to DL

I like the finale at WDW better than the DL version. I much prefer Mickey on top of the mountain at WDW versus the hut-like structure at DL. And I like the fireworks soaring over Mickey's head more at WDW than the way they do it at DL.

I've seen the new dragon at DL and I know people will disagree, but I still like the WDW dragon better. Just looks darker and more sinister to me. But that's just my opnion.

I think they both have great aspects about them. And people's opinions will vary. Just depends on what you like I guess. For me, I prefer the WDW version. But that's just me.

The only advantage WDW has over DL is that it has a better stage and viewing area.

The actual show at DL is way better. Better dragon, peter pan segment, more puppets, etc. The Pocahantas segment at WDW is so weak and pointless, plus it has an overload of villains. Cruella, Hades, Scar, and Frollo show up but they don't do anything! What's the point of having them?

I am one of those passionate responders!

DL's just simply blows me away! The WDW version doesn't wow me in quite the same way.
I do wonder however if it is because I saw the DL one first?

It's really the ship that does it to me...when the Peter Pan scene comes on, I seriously bawl like a baby. Embarrassing because on one video of it, I can actually hear myself weeping.
And the Pocahontas scene always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

As people have said, Disneyland has Peter Pan and Dumbo scenes (if I remember correctly, a Pinocchio scene as well) instead of WDW's Pocahontas scene. They also had a better dragon until it broke. On the flip side, Disneyland's Fantasmic is on Tom Sawyer's Island without any seating, so the staging isn't as good and the viewing is absolutely horrendous. Disneyland has a superior show, but the fact that I watched it from behind tree branches by Pirates makes me prefer WDW's. Throw in the fact that the smoke from the pyrotechnics is inescapable in New Orleans Square, and I consider the ampitheater at WDW alone enough reason to prefer it over Disneyland's version.
