Disney also does quite a few special event cakes that may or may not have subtle Disney elements, so if you really just want a pretty cake or a cake that fits a person's hobbies or interests...you can have that too. Some even look more like decadent bakery creations rather than special events cakes.

The cake below is actually a replica of Carrie/Lurkyloo's wedding cake top tier. She even had a mini wedding cake made to resemble it as well. Very cool!

So, I'm just about at the tail end of the WDW produced cake pics I've collected (so far!), but I wanted to share a few more with you...these would be the ones I skipped over while trying to assemble all of this. I hope there are no duplicates that I only thought I forgot, but looking at a cake twice never hurt anyone (I think).

Costs for all of this Customization

While some cakes are equally as expensive as they look, others are deceptively expensive ...while some may cost quite a bit less than expected. Here are a few things that can impact your price...

> Fondant and specialty flavors (expecially those involving fresh fruit) usually bump up the price, but things like gumpaste flowers (which can get very expensive at outside bakeries) don't cause a huge spike.

> Cake size can also bump up your cost as some bakeries prefer working with an 8" or larger cake when doing more elaborate decorations on a cake.

> Cake shape is one of the biggest price factors. You'll often pay a premium for anything that isn't a round or a standard sheet. Even topsy turvy/mad hatter style cakes come with quite the premium mark up...often in the $150-250 range for a single tier.

> Multi-tier cakes will also increase your price. A 2-tier comprised of rounds may cost you $250 while a 2-tier of topsy turvy/hatter style could run you $300-500.

***In many cases, I will be able to get you prices for cakes in the gallery, so feel free to ask if you see something of interest.

Beyond the WDW Bakeries

You will have far fewer limitations working with an outside bakery. These are a couple of cakes purchased from one of the bakeries that will deliver to WDW.

Each cake was about $250 + $20 per cake delivery fee, but for that you get 2-tiers per cake and sculpted edible figures.

Inspiration

If you're like me, you don't always want the same cake that everyone else has. There are times when a basic podium cake added on to my meal at check in will do...

...but sometimes you want something more...something different. @Jessica Meier was kind enough to provide me with a nice handful of inspiration photos of Disney cakes that might help inspire you as well.

Now, how to make two birthday kidz happy with one cake! My 8 yr old ds and my 12 yr old dd born on the same day, they are used to sharing their birthday, but I really would like to make this cake special. I have til Sept, so I better start working on it!

Do they have any fave characters? There's a combo Belle/Snow White cake on the first page (copied the pics below) that might lend itself well to other split cake concepts (I think it was done for twins). Obviously, concepts like Mickey/Minnie, Jessie/Woody, etc. would work really well, but they might be willing to combine other characters that wouldn't normally go together. Ex. if it were a split cake for myself and DH, I'd want one side Donald and the other Stitch.

Depending on budget and preferences, two mini cakes- two mini wedding cakes- OR- two 6" cakes "could" cost less than the split single cake idea and still allow for individual preferences.

So excited! Great job @HouCuseChickie! Love cakes! Can't wait to see what everyone has had made or has ideas for!

Thanks! Of course I had to sift through pics of cakes that had been cut to get everything and there's not a bite of cake in my house right now! Craving cake! At least DH's cake is this weekend.:)

What's crazy...I think my biggest WDW cake issue right now (aside from wondering if they'll accomodate my requests for my Small World cake) is trying not to cause a cake faux pas (or 2).

So this is the cake we ordered for my Mom. We had it delivered to her birthday dinner at Cali Grill so we ordered it through the Contemporary bakery. We didn't give them a ton of info other than we wanted green frosting and flowers. The cake was chocolate with chocolate mousse inside. It was soooo yummy! Very moist and just super delicious.

Thanks so much..no problem for ds, its the 12 yr the will be difficult, but I'm sure I can come up with something.

It's really nice. How much did that cost and how many people did it serve?
