WDW To Enforce FP+ Rules

Keep in mind this is a company that spent money to stop people from getting too much refillable soda, so it's also possible the problem wasn't big at all.

Well truthfully that had been abused too- it had become a de facto free soda machine for resort guests. People wouldn't even bother using the resort mugs. I don't know how much it cost the company though, I'm sure they did studies before paying for the chipped mug system. And this fastpass fix probably only cost them some IT hours. I bet the systems were able to be compared, telling them how many magicbands were redeeming fastpasses compared to a list of magicbands entering the park.

They only need to do one last thing to close the loophole for most, and that would be to limit change party to only other parties with tickets used at the turnstiles that day while inside the park yourself.

Lesson #1 in Management School - back your employees unless they did something illegal, inappropriate or against company policy. Loyalty is a two-way street - can't expect employee loyalty if you won't do the same.

Yep! When I worked in big box retail management always stood up for me. Often times a customer whines because they aren't getting their way and we've explained to them there's truly nothing we can do, if we could, we would ... It was always fun when management came over and said the same thing I just did LOL. I've always said everyone should work a retail job once in their life and see how it is.

So, if I had a magic band active on my account, that I wasn't wearing and using for entry, I could have taken it to a kiosk in the park and linked FP+ selections to it, on top of the three I already selected in my MDE app? Am I getting that part right?

Every band linked to one person on an account is essentially a duplicate of the others. If you had a band that was linked to a different account than the one that had your park tickets you were using that day? Yes.

Not a question about gaming the system, but I'm now curious if I'm going to get dinged somehow. I'm local and my family visits from out of state quite frequently. They always stay on property and book me for their dining and FPs because it's just simpler to put me on everything. Sometimes I miss FPs because I end up having to stay late at work and don't make it to the parks. Sometimes they put me on FPs during the day that I couldn't ever use. But, they don't actually try to use my band to get an extra FP (because what would one extra do for them...and we never even thought of that).

But, if I go not using some of these FPs that were booked, will we get dinged? Or is it just those that try to continuously use non-ticketed bands for FPs?

@hatlltd nothing that you described sounds against the rules.

The one caution that I would give is that if your friends book your FPs when you cannot make it to the park, they should not be moving those FPs (in MDE) over to their account for immediate use. While it is not strictly against the rules (yet) I would worry that, since your band hasn't been used to enter the park, that they might get flagged.

If they are not moving them to their account, and those FPs just expire, then all is good.

How does this work for park hopping? if you plan to go to Epcot in the morning and MK in the evening - can you still order FP's for MK even though your band will be registered to another park upon in the morning?

You'll still hit the turnstiles for MK before you use your FP. Good to go.

The rule change doesn't impact FP selections made via the phone app once the initial 3 were used. From what I read, people were gaming the system by either using an unused ticket or MB at the kiosks in the park or a ghost profile in their MDE account to get anothet set of three. Or using someone's account and MB. Sounds like a lot of effort to get a FP at tiered parks.

Nah, that happens to me all the time. There is no "consequence" to having someone in a party not use a fastpass. What the others are doing is a different thing entirely. You don't have to use every FP you book. In fact, I'm pretty sure Disney relies on not getting everyone to show up for the FP.

You're fine... missing FPs isn't an issue at all... nor is linking people who don't show.

Doing the single day FPs from the kiosk is not that valuable... but using unused tickets to get FPs or linked friends.. and then moving them to your account was very easy and as good as multiplying the FPs you could get per user you added/linked. Very lucrative system, especially if you were a frequent visitor.

Apparently multiple high-profiles sites were promoting this as a normal touring strategy... yet now they've suddenly changed their tune and scrubbed the stuff from their sites. I wonder if threatening letters/statements were made :)

I don't have the patience or the time, or even the inclination, to learn all this! I'll just stick to 3 pre-booked fastpasses. ;)

I personally don't have the patience or the time, or even the inclination...................or especially the ethical/moral tendencies to learn all this.

Just so frustrated by this whole deal since the info became public..................

Sounds like this is what she did. She knew she couldn't use "auntie's" band in the park, so transferred auntie's fastpass to herself. That's what caused her account to be flagged. She tried their "New get-around" and got flagged for it. Because she went to GS, they unflagged her account but all the remaining fps for that day on "auntie's" account were deleted.

My guess, this didn't happen at all and we are all assuming it is related to the new suggestion that Disney is locking things down. Several days have passed now and there is barely a whisper of people saying this is happening. My guess, if it was happening, we would be seeing many more reports of it. The in park kiosks are locked down but from the lack of any examples anywhere besides maybe one or two so far makes me think nothing is happening yet.

I believe that it's actually happening, there's chatter about it on another site but the admins over there have been quick to delete the discussions.

Or many of those who did it in the past can no longer use the exploit and don't want to face the fury/backlash of posting something like, "I can't exploit the flaws in the system any more and can't get dozens of FP+ times which ended up screwing you suckers!!!:mad: ".

They are only deleting posts that discuss how to hack, they are not messing with posts that suggest they are locked out because they tried the hack. There is only one post suggesting they think it was locked out on that thread and it has been there for about 48 hours and has not been deleted. There is one other thread elsewhere saying they read that someone was locked out, they may be referring to the same post as they are not saying where this thread is. Prior to this week, you would see people posting constantly that the hack was still working and/or asking how it worked, not just at the DIS but all over...mostly at the DIS though. Now, nothing, except one pitiful post.

No way, people who couldn't keep this secret to themselves could not keep from posting now.
