WDW to Build New North Entrance to Property

When we left for the northern missions mid-May they were paving near the backstage lots. The bridge over the creek was nearing completion. What they have planned by the fire station was still now clear. I am guessing by the time we return in mid-October the project, at least to the fire station, should be done. There was no preliminary surveying, or engineering on Floridian Way that I know of, just the two-lane blacktop to the back entrance to the Grand Floridian.

It's never been a high priority project

when they wanna get things done like the i-4 disney springs ramp they can, or the new hollywood studios entrance

I'll never understand why they didn't make an I-4 eastbound DS ramp as well.

Thanks for the pics. Looks about the same as it did on 11 May with the exception of the blacktop by the CM parking lot. Slow and steady is better than nothing.

That would have been a TON more construction, and not really needed.

The are redoing some of the ramps, the biggest issue is the way that is the quickest to get back on i-4 to head north/east means heading south out of DS so its counter intuative to what most drivers/gps units think

as most people think more distance = more time when that isnt always true.

are any of the intersections along this stretch going to be grade separated such as the intersection of seven seas drive and floridian way for the west to south connection which has always been dangerous.

if grade seperated isnt an option its to bad they dont explore the use of roundabouts more on property

Nope, you have to go out World Drive past the auto/bus plaza and use the new lanes to circle back to the MK lot.

Wow...the potential for a lot more traffic along Floridian way is there...watch out deer/bobcats

It’s been a while... wow.

I will chime in... the final piece of this project is between the fire station to the north and the gas station to the south. It will prove to be more disruptive than any of the previous road projects, especially for the Wedding Pavilion and the Grand Floridian. Permits to my knowledge haven’t been filed yet, but they should be imminent. Once the new roads open on both the north and south sides, that middle portion will be littered with traffic until they widen it. If you plan to stay at the Grand Floridian or have a wedding coming up there in the next three years, expect to deal with some serious traffic congestion.

I’m also concerned that I haven’t seen ANYTHING about building new gateway arches for this entrance. (Or for that matter, the Disney Springs parking garage ramp direct from I-4) Has the gateway program been abandoned? @marni1971 ? Anyone?

I was thinking that last month. Leaving property via the widened Epcot Center Drive there’s no longer any goodbye or even a gatepost as you exit.

Is there any expected date to completion of the piece from Reams Rd to Floridian way so you no longer come in off reams road and have to follow the traffic to the left and then meander over to Floridian Way. In the aerial pic it sure looks like paved dirt as opposed to a paved road This just became a bigger deal for my family as we decided to by some property "up north".

The Disney springs ramp makes me angry every time. At the very least a Disney Springs marquee should have been installed
