News WDW Resorts to add fees for parking

I can definitely see this happening since it's such an easy walk to MK from contemporary. Parking validation would definitely solve that problem. If they park and don't go to the Contemporary, they get charged. If they park, go to a restaurant and spend enough to get validated but then leave the car there and go to MK, I think that should be OK.

But this was never allowed officially. I respect that this is your opinion that people should be allowed to do this. But to be clear, this would be adding on a privilege

You're right that it's not policy, and even if it's not allowed in the end after it's all implemented I'm OK with that. As long as they validate parking if I spend x dollars at the resort, I'm good. :joyfull:

Maybe that's all this is about, timed gates with tickets and possibly some new fees. It's surprising that they don't have these yet for all of the dining that goes on. Even many offsite hotels have them

Depends on the security guard. Lots of security guards will let you in without a dining reservation, which may or may not be a legitimate reason. When I lived in Florida, lots of people would go to Sanaa for lunch without a reservation. People would also go to the Contemporary without a reservation, claim they were going to eat at The Wave, and instead park their cars to walk to Magic Kingdom. In that case, it was a lot of passholders and cast members who would have gotten free parking anyways, but they wanted to avoid the TTC.

Hmm maybe fee with a very generous credit system? IE lots of legitimate ways to have fee waived. Like validation on steroids?

Agree. But at the end of the day you are responsible for "having a blast". Things can go wrong..nothing will be absolutely perfect no matter how much we plan.. the trick is how you roll with things if they do go wrong. At that point it's up to your attitude. The "2500" on tickets is just that- tickets, to a theme park..you take the rest from there :)

For $2,500 you should have some expectation of enjoying what you're spending $2,500 on. If you had a $5 hamburger and it's uncooked on a moldy bun I don't think you'd eat it and make an excuse that you were responsible for enjoying it.

Yeah - for $500 a day I should only be responsible for showing up and applying sunscreen.
It's their job to deliver IMO.
Thanks to these boards, I can and do try to get my expectations lined up appropriately. But I'm not willing to take them any lower than I already have.

At that price, there's some question about whether or not you should have to apply your own sunscreen...
If they're only paying their people $10 an hour, you should probably have your own personal slatherer.

I live 600 miles away. Not nearly a local, but close enough that it makes no sense to pay for flights for my family of 4.

I just can't agree that upkeep of a parking lot is cheaper than putting everybody on Magical Express.

Charge me to park my car I drove from home at All Star or Pop Century and I really start to re-evaluate my vacations. Maybe others are right and they aren't worried about retaining commited returning guests. I have a hard time believing that with this year's AP offering, but only time can tell.
Have you used a flight rewards credit card?

Sorry for the bump But This is looking very doubtful from what I've heard. Maybe during peak times but year round No.
Not sure what you've heard, but the parking fee doesn't look doubtful to me quite yet. But I can assure you that this thread was read and it may have influenced some decision makers about the resort fees. So, if they don't happen, be happy that this thread exists because it may have very well been a part of why the resort fees didn't happen. But we're not out of the woods yet when it comes to the parking fees.

To be clear, when we're talking about parking fees, we're talking about non-Disney resort guests, correct?

If so, I support that 100%.

I don't think the earlier discussion was limited to parking fees for offsite guests.

Drizgirl is correct. Previous conversations included parking fees for both resort and non resort guests in addition to the possibility of resort fees for resort guest. Double whammy.
