News WDW Resorts to add fees for parking

We stayed at DVC too and traveled to various hotels for both quick service meals and table service meals, it was never a problem to do this EXCEPT in the contemporary where whilst visiting contempo cafe, security wanted us out within 2 hours otherwise our car would be ticketed. I can only assume this is because of the close proximity to magic kingdom. If you have a meal reservation there is no time limit, if you do not, I'm guessing it's at the discretion of the guard on the gate that day....

Stayed at Pop this weekend and had a breakfast reside at Grand Floridian. Didn't have any issues driving there. They just scanned my band to verify.

CR has always had the most strict parking enforcement and I believe you are correct that it’s due to proximity to MK. Even before parking fees they would often ask to see your ADR before letting you park there for a meal and they have always given limited parking time slots (although I’m not sure how often they were enforced). I’m surprised at how lenient they are at BW due to it’s close proximity to the back door into EPCOT, especially in the evening but maybe the lot is bigger.

It's been a while since I parked there. What exactly did you say you were there for? Breakfast? Pool-hopping? And was this in early August or late August (wondering if you were in Dream Season or Magic Season)? And did you somehow make it clear that you weren't trying to avoid paying the parking fee at Epcot (by saying that you were coming from another resort)?

I’ve never tried this when not already staying at another Disney resort. I’ve also been told they are more strict with FL plates than out of state.

The only time I’ve ever been told no was at CR. I told them I was going to grab dinner and walk around a little and they asked to see my ADR. When I said I didn’t have one they told me the lot was near capacity and they could only accommodate hotel guests or people with ADRs. We went over to Poly which was no problem for parking and planned to just take the monorail over to CR but we ended up just eating at Capt Cooks instead. We didn’t go to MK or stay very long but they didn’t give us a time limit at Poly. Since BLT is my home resort and my in laws are local we have had visitors there from time to time and they always get a limited parking pass, I think usually good for 4 hours.

At BW I’ve only gone for a meal and usually they just tell you to park directly to the left of the main entrance. I can’t remember if they gave me a time or not but we would have been gone either way. Maybe it was crowd levels or time of day or just the preference of the guy working that day.

What reason did you give them? BW has an entire shopping/dining area that is marketed to non-hotel guests so I can't imagine there would be any reason they'd turn you away other than if you said you were trying to park there to go to Epcot.

Never once had an issue. All they ask for is a magic band or valid government ID. Only exception is the week between Xmas and NYE at the MK resorts.

we just said we were coming in for awhile to walk around a bit shop and dine, which we have done before for a short time and then we leave, but they turned us away and said a dining adr is required otherwise cant come in. I forget the month, june maybe,,,but it was not on a holiday or anything but maybe some kind of event was going on.

I'm not interrogating you or anything, just trying to figure out "what not to say". What time of day was this? Were you coming from another resort? Were you DVC? Did you say you were eating at a particular restaurant?

I stayed there for Dark Side race weekend in April. They were not allowing anyone to park except for resort guests. Not even for an ADR. There was even a sign posted at the guard shack.

Not even for an ADR? That's a bit harsh, if you ask me. Perhaps it was just because of the race weekend? I'd hope that wouldn't continue beyond.

If I had an ADR and was denied parking at the resort where I was dining, my next meal at WDW would be free.

Honestly I've been "turned down" I guess, but I was just told to park in the lot that is across the street where the light is (which honestly isn't that much further of a walk). I've never had an issue parking there (gate is almost always up). My guess is they tell people to go over there depending on the number of people staying at BW (who would get first priority).

That wouldn't be a problem. As long as they're not outright denying access to the restaurant (no nearby parking, no access to park at the resort), there's no issue.

Agree. I can't imagine they could do that. I mean, don't you get charged at a lot of those places if you no-show?
