Yep. Had a doctor tell me that they expect to miss 80,000 cancer diagnoses from this and that with children having vaccines delayed we are flirting with an outbreak of a preventable disease.

People really can’t get past what the news is saying about this virus. There are so many other unrealized consequences to this shut down/lockdown/quarantine than people realize and the news is covering.

COVID-19 is going to quickly turn into a symptom of a much greater issue if we don’t learn how to control it and open in a safe manner.

In my area all elective procedures and clinic visits have returned. Doctors offices/elective surgeries are very different then a theme park opening and we are now at the point in this country when those things should resume.

And if they could have their CM jobs back and WDW would open in a safe manner they wouldn’t have the extra income to go on these shopping sprees. Yet you advocating for them to keep closed is going to prolong the situation.

Now this is 100 percent true lol. Can't argue

The problem is those businesses don’t drive the economic train of central Florida - the theme parks do. Restaurants and other businesses are in trouble without theme park and convention visitors.

Yup, maybe you need to diversify your business with in the area, becoming overly reliant on one business is a huge risk. Las Vegas, Hollywood, and the Bahamas are all hurting too, still doesn’t change the fact that movie theatres, cruise ships, casinos and theme parks have a high likelihood of causing a “super spreading” event and should remain closed for now.

Tobacco farmers suffered greatly in the last 30 years due to smoking being banned in most public places, still doesn’t change the fact we needed to do it.

Im not disagreeing. I was speaking in generalities about the entire situation in that post.

Like I said, I personally am not ready to return to WDW but I’m not going to berate those that want to if Disney feels like they can do this in a safe manner.

That really isn’t feasible - and frankly no one plans their business model around a once in a generation pandemic raining down turmoil.

And re: cruise ships - that’s nothing new. They’ve always been viral incubators. Now, I don’t see how a movie theatre is any worse than a restaurant if you’re distanced. I’m not sure we should be opening theme parks yet but I trust the experts that I’m sure are making hearty consulting fees from UO and TWDC and advising on them behind the science. Disney doesn’t want to be closed one day longer than they have to be.

See I don’t disagree with that statement, I just cant currently see a way to visit a theme park safely.

Not sure if this has been posted on here already, but does anyone know how long the order to quarantine once entering FL from the NY area is in effect? And how are they enforcing this? Wondering if this will be lifted anytime soon, especially with universal opening and WDW likely opening soon. I agree with the reason it was put in place just to put that out there, but right now our cases are significantly dropping while other states are the new “hot spots” so wasn’t sure if anyone heard any news on this changing

Not for a long time. The governor said NY was bringing in the virus, don’t expect the rules to change.

The order that put the restrictions on those arriving from the NY area in place is synched to expire along with the emergency order for the state which was extended another 60 days on May 8. So you're looking at not early than July unless the governor chooses to extend the emergency order again.

I said this a while back and I’m sticking to it. WDW won’t be fully open while those orders stand. That being said if Disney said today we would be willing to open in June but we won’t because of those orders the orders would be lifted tomorrow.

If Universal can open with the orders. Why cant Disney.
