Sorry I guess you could have taken my question a bunch of different ways, what I was after was the whole WDW world experience compared to the whole Disneyland experience including the California Adventure theme park. In whole because I never been to California Adventure.

I get how you guys are trying to say that DCA has all the elements of DHS, EPCOT, and AK (which it does), but I really don't like how that works. Feels too mashed up, and its kind of hard to grasp the feeling of the park when you have It's A Bug's Life mashed in. Plus, with each park for each type of magic (Movies, Progress, Nature), its easier to expand on each thought, hence why I prefer WDW.

I was also told that I would be disappointed in DL if I was a frequent WDW visitor, but I wasn't disappointed at all. I love both places, for different reasons. The main reason I prefer WDW is because it's like home to me. I would love to visit DL more, but I'm a phobic flyer so I don't get out to the West Coast often.

As for the whole experience, this is what I thought. I loved both Disneyland Park & California Adventure. I thought CA was a great mix of a lot of "best of" rides at WDW, along with some new things that were great. People told me it was only a "half day" park, but I spent the whole day there and never got bored.

DL itself had such a great historical aspect to it, and that is what made it so amazing & different for me. Some of the rides are similar, some are better at WDW and some are better at DL. However, that's all a matter of opinion. I think it's something that Disney fans need to experience for themselves. All in all, I love both places. :)

To me it goes beyond the attractions themselves. That's only a part of the WDW experience. The resorts are attractions themselves. The abundance of recreation, the water parks. That's what really makes the experience for me.

I talked about how the whole DLR experience felt to me in post 18. I can expound on any of the points there if you need, because...honestly I could talk about DLR all day.

You're totally right. I don't want to sound like an extreme DLR apologist saying "DCA is just as good as the other three parks put together!" That would just be absurd. I do think that taken together, the relevant parts of DL and DCA are better than DHS. (ToT is the only real weak spot.)

Epcot and DAK are only there in tiny pieces, though. If those parks in their entirety are vital to your experience, you'll feel DLR is lacking. Personally, I'm not huge on DAK, so that's not a big loss, but that's just me. I do enjoy Epcot, though.

What I was trying to say is that considering its size (which I consider a plus, not a minus), DLR has done a remarkable job of bottling up at least a taste of all of the WDW parks. It's hard to believe how much stuff is out there.

Yes I will give it that. Also, as said above, the resorts make the WDW experience, I spent a night by myself taking busses to different resorts (for the night that we got there and we didn't have tickets to the parks and yea)

Off-topic, but another Song of The South lover I see? :D

DLR has three very interesting hotels (well, 2 very interesting ones and PPH ) worth exploring, and a moderately interesting shopping/dining district. It's not all parks.

But if horseback riding, golf, and water parks are essential parts of a Disney vacation for you, then you're better off at WDW, no doubt. (Although there's plenty of that stuff close by DLR, I'm sure.) :D

That's a big thing for me. I really like DAK, and I LOVE Epcot.

Yeah my kids love the theming of POP Century and the Movies. With all the Discounts right now we were even thinking of staying at Port Orleans Riverside, but my sister lives in Sedona Arizona and want us to go to Disneyland with her.

More the character than the film for me.

It's very easy for me to identify with a lazy rabbit who's constantly daydreaming. (Well...except the rabbit part.) :lookaroun

I actually just saw SotS for the first time a year or so ago. I enjoyed it, though. It's a shame that...well, you know.

Its still (and will continue to be!) my favorite movie period, just love everything about it! And it is rather unfortunate, AND Disney kind of mixed up the storyline on Splash Mountain in terms of the correct scenes in order, etc.

And yes Brer Rabbit is a loveable character, at least in the movie, because if you've read the actual Uncle Remus tales, then he seems like a complete d-bag.

What's this? another WDW vs DL thread?

My opinion. They're very different, very hard to compare, and they each have something special to offer. That being said, I think any Disney fan should make at least one trip to see Walt's original Magic Kingdom. I think the history of the place makes it worth the trip.

Agreed!

I was trying to think of a way to boil down DCA, and remembered what came to mind when I was walking around: "This feels like they took DHS, mixed it up with Wilderness Lodge and the Boardwalk, and called it a park." :veryconfu

So imagine that right next door to a jazzed-up MK with more attractions than you'd ever believe could be fit into that park and the mystifying knowledge that It All Began Here, and you have DLR. Everyone's not going to love it as much as I did, but if you're on these boards, it's worth the trip IMO.

As someone else said, the GUESTS at Disneyland are even better than at WDW. After my first trip to DL, the main thing that hit me was how NICE everyone was. People don't generally fight over spots for parades and fireworks (even though it's tight as toast at DL), there's very few issues with strollers and ECVs like there are in Florida. People just behave like human beings instead of animals.

Really? I'm not contradicting you or anything, I'm curious, though. I've never been to DL, but I frequently read another forum that is primarily about DL. And I've seen many threads complaining about the crowds, the large amount of badly behaved unsupervised teens, people fighting over Fantasmic or firework spots, saving spots 4-5 hours ahead of time, even gang related issues in the past. Alot of that is due to the huge local crowd DL gets at certain times of the year when the cheapest AP's aren't blocked.

That's not to say that the MK doesn't have it's share of obnoxious people, trust me, I know it does. But from years of reading about DL, I am pretty sure that it plenty of issues of it's own in that regard.

^ Anytime you read something online, keep in mind that people are mostly going to use that to voice their problems/concerns. Nobody really posts their good experiences - it's easier to complain about stuff.

If you're talking about the forum I think you're talking about then yes - people do complain a lot.. most of the time it's highly exaggerated. It's really not that bad  If I had never been to DL and only knew the park based on what gets said on MiceChat.. I think i'd would be too scared to visit after what is said over there..

Oy. I've used this line before, but you'd think DL was Six Flags over Anaheim to read most of the stuff over there. :hammer:

That's what I love about these messages boards is the passion we all have for Disney period let it be Disneyland or WDW. :sohappy: I just love the feeling of being able to go and be young at heart again and see my childrens faces glow when they are in the parks. If we go to Disneyland I want them to have that same great feeling and don't want them to feel they missed out on something.
