WDW or Disneyland for 2013?

Not looking to start another debate between the 2 here, but just curious what people think. We originally had planned on going to Disneyland for the 1st time next summer, but after consideration, decided we'd miss Universal and some aspects of WDW too much. But now, I'm rethinking our decision based on all the things going on at WDW over the next year in terms of construction, maintenance, new changes. My biggest concern is NexGen. Is this going to be affecting Disneyland as well?

I guess I'm just thinking, maybe we should live without Universal for a year and wait until 2014 to go back to WDW. By that time, Splash will hopefully have been fixed, Mine Train should be open, and FLE will be completed.

Thoughts?

my vote... WDW

We're from MA, why fly all the way to CA for less park... sure Cars land looks awesome, but flights to CA are over the top.

That's the thing - Between just 2 parks at Disneyland, they have just about as many attractions as all 4 parks at WDW. Plus unlike WDW, Disneyland still has a good amount of their classic attractions.

But as you said, there's the airfare.

I guess... I'm an EPCOT guy, even if it's a shell of what it used to be. I couldn't see myself being away from that atmosphere.

I tried to check both options in the poll, but it would only take one. So I chose DL, since you've never been, and you've been to WDW so many times already.

I'm doing Both! WDW In January and DL in August but also for D23 Expo...So I couldn't decide..:)

I was all about the D23 expo... but honestly, I have to pass. They cover a whole lot more than parks related materials, I could care less about shows on ABC. Half the D23 magazine is TV related stuff, it sucks

You've never been to Disneyland, correct? If you've never been, why are you encouraging another person who's also never been to not go? Oh, and the DLR and WDW are pretty much equal when it comes to attractions. Probably more.

Do you honestly want to go to the Disneyland Resort?

I was able to get to the Legends and Studios Panel but I'm happy I missed the Parks panel as there was more important stuff to do....Like buy copius amounts of Merchandise, Eat food, do the voice actors panel and oh yeah...Go to DL/DCA..

But for this year I used my tax return for WDW so the majority has been taken cared of since March and the only thing I need is to get an Annual pass then upgrade to Premier for $100 more that way by the time I'm done with my WDW Trip I can start the journey to DL.

I wish I was doing the opposite BUT I am doing WDW in 2013 and DL in 2014. The only reason it's not the opposite is I'm traveling for work.

My reason for wanting it to be the other way is because I would really like to see the classics at DL plus the new attractions open now and I would rather put off WDW until Fantasyland is open in full. I'm hopeful the Mine Car will be a really good addition to my favourite rides at MK.

based purely on the logistics of travel time and cost... yes, you can make a decision this way

What does travel time have to do with the actual resort? Absolutely nothing, you really don't have an argument, especially since the OP didn't even bring time travel and costs up originally. Clearly they're not worried about that, but more about experience.

I think that since you have never been to DL, you should visit it.
I am a DL local who didn't visit WDW much. When I went back as an adult, I found a lot of things I liked about it and I am a return visitor.
I could have easily just visited DL my whole life, but since I enjoy Disney parks, I want to see what all of them have to offer.
DL has a ton of attractions and an atmosphere that I can't put into words. When I walk into Walt's park and see the details, I just get this feeling that I don't get anywhere else on Earth.

We need time for things to happen.
I'm actually entertaining this exact thing.
The airfare is outrages...I looked at trains too...way to expensive.
I'm now entertaining a rental car....
I've always wanted to drive cross country...
My wife's vacation time is the issue now.
