WDW Magic slang

I've been on MANY message boards, and have never come across DD, DS, or any of those. It's my mom, dad, son, etc on the ones I've frequented. But that doesn't matter... they still don't make sense to me lol.

I notice them a lot more on family type boards where parents (especially mom's) tend to be. On the more technical boards I see them used a lot less.

I see them on a LOT of vacation planning type boards.

There is one abbreviation that I never really understood what it stands for, and that is BAH. I know it refers to our beloved hat, though.

If it does stand for what I think it does, then I quite like it.

Just to clarify a bit. DD (dear daughter), DS (dear son), DW (dear wife), DH (dear husband), SO (significant other) and a host of others are not WDWMagic abbreviations. You will find them on just about any message board. Some more than others. Thankfully, WDWMagic users seem to avoid them quite a bit. I find they annoying for some reason.
Ditto. I was introduced to them by my wife who is on a board for women who were all pregnant at the same time. If anyone used those on the other boards that I frequent, I'm sure they'd get banned or at least ridiculed incessantly.

LOL....I thought it as well

Add me as another who has always thought that! I use DH for my husband quite a bit on the boards, but in my head it is always Disney Husband. I don't think I've ever called him "dear". It took me years of using these boards to realize that people meant "dear", probably because I don't really use any other boards and had never seen it! So it just stuck that way for me.

I personally always hear them in my head as "Disney Son" or "Disney Wife" when I'm on this board.

I think it is just so much better that way.:)

I am the same way. Dear Daughter and stuff makes me sick to my stomache. I am making sure I keep thinking Disney Daughter Disney wife. and so on. =]

Personally, I like to write things out in full.

We can thank the internet for dumbing things down and teaching a whole generation of kids and teenagers how to spell incorrectly.:D

Or use text slang, that's a pet peeve of mine it's fine for texting but don't use it outside of texting...

I agree with that as well. There are times I'll use a quick abbreviation like ToT, but the majority of the time I prefer to write in full.

I think you're on to something about the spelling as well...extremely poor spelling is one of my biggest pet peeves. I certainly can understand the odd mistake here and there, but the people who constantly spell things incorrectly drive me crazy! Maybe it's just a Canadian thing ;)

I know I'm way late but thanks for the post for us WDWM forum 'newbies' (including the links with the 'cheat sheets')! I've been a Disney freak for years and can often recognize the acronyms but there are a lot thrown around in the forums and some of them are hard to translate quickly :veryconfu.
