Say what you will, but Univseral is a better fit, what with the thrill rides and all.
Sound stages can handle the cheer events.
Stadium off site ($20 says city of Orlando gives some kinda incentive to use it)
WWoS is built for events like Pop Warner. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but the Arena at WWoS, the most recent addition, was built for them and other cheer events.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Pop Warner uses the first class facilities at ESPN and then stays at the cheaper Universal hotels. Has anyone ever been to Camping World Stadium? The neighborhood is not in the safest part of the city.

Im sure they will be fine...i have to work around therd and yeah its not but think of all the events held there all the time....wont be an issue...wont be using ESPN.

Appears to be related to disney not being able to for sure say they can host? Because of professional sports bubbles? I hooe universal gives them a good home.

While I have ZERO objections to them leaving from a guest standpoint, I can't happen but be curious on what the current management is thinking? I'm assuming this is a source of revenue that they are needlessly losing to a nearby competitor. It just feels as if the Disney Ship is sailing through rough waters without any leadership at the helm. Seems like current management is dropping the ball on multiple things going on and this is another example, again strictly from a business/fiscal standpoint. My two cents

This is a very significant piece of business lost, on top almost every aspect of corporate travel still shut down for the rest of the year.

I can see from the tone of responses here that many say ‘good riddance!’, but the reality is groups like this contributed to Disney’s bottom line in a disproportionate and perhaps much more significant way then the general leisure travel market. If you want a full entertainment slate, nighttime offerings, proper staffing levels and park hours restored... getting groups like this back on property is the best driver to make that happen.

You can’t get back to 2019 on domestic leisure travel alone, its impossible. The financial underpinning of the whole Orlando operation was built in large part around this sort of guest.

Wild that Pop Warner thinks this is safe enough to do while WDW still has the hotels closed because it isn't safe. Or TDO just wants to save a buck and it costs more to have their rooms open than they make from this?
Loss is of the indoctrination that comes from a kid's onsite visit and the revenue that nostalgia would have brought in the future. These are not long term thinkers though and they prove nostalgia means very little to them.

On the contrary, nostalgia means a great deal to those in charge. Specifically, it means they can sell stuff to nostalgia suckers and they buy it left, right, and center, all day every day. They bank on nostalgia getting people onto the property and into the parks. At the same time, they are removing what created those nostalgic feelings in the first place. Slow times? Parks that aren’t packed to the gills? Good food? Unforgettable shows and parades? Awesome merchandise? No more.

The kids will be fine at Camping World Stadium? Apparently you don't know the neighborhood surrounding the stadium.

Is it the greatest? No. Will they be fine? Yes, of course they will, they're not playing in a prison yard. It will be no less safe than any other of the numerous events held there. The newer locker room facilities at CWS are pretty decent, too.

I know the area. Get in , see the event , get out. This is not the part of Orlando that is shown on tourism videos.

So do I, and you implied the kids aren't safe having that venue as their event location, which is absolutely ridiculous. I've been there a few times when there's no major event so no increased security presence and it's just fine then as well. Would I go more than a block or 2 away from the stadium? No, but then neither would I in some other mid to major cities. Major sports facilities being in/on the edge of not great areas of town isn't something unique to Orlando.

Why would they care about that? They'll no longer be running the company by the time that could/would be an issue. Not a problem for them.

That kind of short-term thinking is a problem for a lot of corporate executives these days, but it could be especially harmful for Disney long-term.
