WDW guests can tweet Disney for help during their vacation.

I think there are only two possible answers.

1. They did it to piggyback the popularity of the existing podcast.
2. They had no clue WDW Today existed.

My money is on option 2.

They absolutely know the podcast exists, as we've had the (former) head of their social media team on the show a few times. We get media invites to things, we're on their mailing list, etc.

That said, I don't think any of us on the show actually cares about the fact that Disney acquired the @WDWToday handle. (I'd love to hear the story of how they got it, though.) I do enjoy asking people to tweet @WDWToday and say how much they love Mike Scopa though.

I'm not saying your work on there isn't valuable just that podcasts are very much a niche medium that many don't know about.

No worries. We all know we're just barely above anonymity with this thing. :)

I have a story about this. Scopa and I are standing in front of Haunted Mansion one day, waiting for it to open. So we're talking, and this woman walks up and says "Are you Mike Scopa? I listen to your show and can tell by your accent!"

Before Scopa can reply, I say something along the lines of "Da****, lady! Do you know what his ego is going to be like now?"

As soon as she heard me swear, she said "...and you're Len Testa!"

That pretty much sums up our experience with the show.

This has been 3+ pages of silliness. Why is no one more concerned about WDW visitors tweeting DisneylandToday (or whatever it's called) and vice versa? Seriously.. If someone is going to go through the effort of realizing they can tweet Disney about a question while they are in the park, he or she must have some kind of "Twitter smarts" about them.. I wouldn't be surprised if younger visitors use it or even realizes that it exists more so than an average adult visitor. I use twitter professionally, but I wouldn't think to go to twitter while actually at the park for an answer.

I could see some use to get real time updates on performances you are trying to see.

Do you get a response if you ask what time is the 3 oclock parade?

Is that what you think podcasts are? People trying to brainwash you in to thinking a certain way?

Yes!!! Anyone who tells you ANYTHING is telling it from their own point of view. And YES, some of them are out to influence you!! Even in common conversation, everyone has an agenda - even if it is just to inform you. You have to be selective and choose for yourself if you accept their point of view. Otherwise you risk becoming a 'lemming'.

I question the methodology of those statistics.

Personally, I question the methodology of ALL STATISTICS!! I want to know how they came up with that figure!! Is it a mean, or median? What is the composition of the sampling group and how large is the standard deviation? You can twist a statistic to say anything you want...just ask a politician.

OMG, I totally loved reading this amazing discussion -- you guys are just awesome and quite funny, too. And, there were a lot of good points made.

Yep, it's great! DL has had one for a while now, too. I tweeted WDW yesterday about something stupid and they responded right away.
LOL. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I can only imagine the collection of smart *** tweets they will have amassed by the end of the week.
This comment made me chuckle, it's so un-Master Yoda like. LOL.

Not to be rude but you would have to be kind of stupid to share and comment on the wrong Twitter handle seeing as how the official Twitter handle is verified with the blue check...
Wow, I find this comment to be somewhat rude and you' re a classy and nice guy, as I have never seen you make a comment like this before. But, whatever....

And, no one is 'stupid'. This can be confusing to anyone, especially those who have never used twitter, as both of the Twitter accounts use the exact same name and both offer helpful advice about Disney World.

Disney just launched @WDWToday, a couple of weeks ago, so now a lot more people will know about it.

Not to mention, when I started this thread @WDWToday had 8,000 and some followers and now it is approaching the 10,000 mark. They have gained almost 1000 new followers in just one day since I started this thread and there is noticeably more traffic on their website, too.

I wasn't being rude I wa speaking the truth. It's 2015 and every social media outlet has adapted a verified account marker. And there are plenty of stupid people out in the world that do stupid things. I want specifically calling anyone stupid on here, just that it would be a stupid mistake.

Okay, you weren't being rude -- I just disagree.
