WDW Galaxy Edge - gotta get this off my chest!

I don’t want to be limited to a 4 hour reservation! I want to stay as long as I want. So I’m glad WDW won’t be doing that. We’ll do whatever it takes to get in and we’ll enjoy it all day long 😃

I vote for the 4 hour reservation system at WDW. Without it you may wait 4 or 5 hours to do one thing.

If I remember correctly when the princess meet and greet opened in the magic kingdom there were 4 hour waits for that alone.

I agree that the WDW SWGE is going to be crazy busy and mobbed with people. I can't imagine anything else. FOP had crazy wait times and still does. SWGE is going be an even bigger draw. I hope to experience it at DL in November but who knows what that's going to be like once the reservation system concludes. We shall see, won't we.

You guys act like your'e so clever. I didn't want act like a bigshot before but my source is my cousin in Anaheim California and he is a CM that has been assigned to Star Wars Land. He gave me some info that you guys aren't privy to. The biggest scoup is the size of the land at DHS. He and his fellow CM's/supervisors have been laughing at how small the WDW version will be in comparison. I wish I could give more details and other info but I'm afraid it will get traced back to him if I do, I don't want him to lose his job, especially because he has special privelages and can get me into the park for free.

And logic is logic and math is math, no matter how you'd like to twist it. It'll be proven that the land is too small once you see it at capacity on a daily basis.
Don't take your cousin's word for it. Google Earth's measurement tool is your friend.

Prove us wrong.

Too many hotel rooms to offer every room guaranteed reservation sort of defeats the purpose of limited crowd. But I dont profess to know all either so who knows.
I wouldn't be surprised to see WDW offer guaranteed/priority SW:GE access to guests staying at their most expensive resorts-say The Monorail Resorts-or to Deluxe Resort Club-Level guests. Frankly I've been amazed for years that Disney hasn't offered a tiered perks system based on level of resort. You're not getting that much extra for a $600/night Deluxe Resort than you are for a $175/Night Value Resort. Or maybe I should stop giving The Mouse ideas...

Before everyone comes up with these elaborate schemes of upcharges and hotel classes determining access...

Is there any real idea of if the demand is going to be insane? Doesn’t seem like there is a “1975 outside the embassy” type push to get into the one in anaheim.

Or are we assuming that the Florida crowd is just far more dumb?
If that’s the case...good forethought 😎

Club level is a joke...it’s a simple money schilling machine.

Not to peel back the curtain, but resort ops laughed at those paying it for decades and probably still do. Hotel rates are justified by service level and Disney offers nothing of value to the premium rooms of the same size on that front.

So that’s why they offer no park perks - the people don’t demand anything for their price other than a monorail or boat and the ability to talk about themselves.

You’re right that we should be prudent when estimating demand. But we can’t judge demand based on Anaheim yet due to the reservation system. If you don’t have a reservation there’s no reason to try and go to DL.

June 24th will be a much better indicator of the general public’s demand for GE.

I agree there...be interesting to see what the experiment will yield

Thats because you have to have a reservation. I know its your 'thing' to be hating on SW:GE, but theres no 'rush' because you simply can't get in without a reservation. June 24th will be the first day that you'll see entrance lines to the land.

Hmmm. I've never done a club level myself, but I've read plenty of trip reports where people stayed club level and had a terrific time, deeming it oh so worth it.
Because they feel it’s a status symbol or “accomplishment”...which it isn’t

WDW customers - more than almost any - fall for the tricks that work on the “new money” mentality that ends up looking silly

It’s an overcharge for a slightly better room location and a snack lounge. Nothing else

I am sure they don't. They just feel that they are getting something for their 50 plus bucks. A few might but not all.

It is more than a snack lounge. Continental breakfast, wine and beer, Hors d'ouevres, deserts and cordials are also served. And don't forget the extra three fastpasses per day for another $50. Some may say that is worth the price alone. A private concierge desk and a few other things like robes and slippers and chocolates in your room.

I wouldn't pay for it but I am not going to insult someone that chooses to spend their money on it.

I know people who love it and rarely spend extra money on food either. There are entrees served in the evening too, not just deserts.

But the extra FPs are $50 per day per person, and for a minimum of 3 days.

It’s more like $200 a night...and those fast passes are extra.

The food is of course nice...but there’s nothing that “concierge” desk can do for you...
You want a reservation? Better not be booked. Rides? Nope...not happening. Something special/unique that you cant get from any other room? Not really.

It is what it is...and that is basically a participation trophy. It’s not a “club” at all...just hyper retail and a limited perception.
