WDW from the air..a recent flight over the property

I remembered speaking to a cast member or something years ago who told me that the airspace over WDW is restricted to anyone who isn't authorised to fly over it by Disney.
Nope. It's legal, anyone can fly over.
All I'm saying is that I don't really think that just anyone is allowed to fly over. I don't recall seeing much air traffic on any of my visits to the resort.
I have seen lots of planes flying over to see the firework at MK. I've been parasailing before and trust me, there are a lot of planes!
I personally do think it would be a security problem to have any tom, ________, or harry pilot flying private flights over the resort. It isn't plausable that some terrorist would target WDW? High population, national touristism jewel. If Disney does let just anyone fly over, they should rethink!
As stated before, GA planes can only do very little to no damage at all. And, it's not a high security risk like the White House or US Capitol.
It just occured to me ......... Aren't there some companies offering helecopter flights over WDW. I thought I remembered seeing ads for some company a while back?
Yes, and they still do.

Hard to believe with Disney's stringent security measures.. but hey, whatever you say.

Sure, I've seen planes fly over during fireworks too, but I'm sure with the proper permission from Disney Authority. And what does parasailing have to do with aircraft? Are they hitting you or something while you are parasailing?

1) The walls of the white house are old, and feet thick.
2) You are kidding yourself to say that any sort of object flying through the air and 100 mph or more is not going to hurt anymore. What if a plane crashes into Main Street during a parade? Or Epcot during Illiminations? Into the Castle or Tree of Life? I don't think Disney would risk it for the freedom a bunch of pilots who think they should be able to fly wherever they want.

Ok, granted. I'm sure there are permissions from WDW that accompany this though.

Since the FAA controls the airspace at and above the 200 foot mark I don't think that Disney can control the airspace above their property in regaurdes to flying over the area. They may as the property owner can control landing on the property as tresspassing.

Ummm....no! I can see the airplanes up at 600 feet just fine!

OK, see, single-enigine GA airplane are very small, and can only carry up to 40 gallons of fuel for a Cessna and 50 for a Piper. Also, it can only go up to 160 KTS before it brakes up. That's around 120 MPH, it's VERY hard to get a GA plane up to 100 MPH in control. Trust me, I'm a pilot myself. And where do you get your infomation from?

Ok, I'll trust you since you are a pilot. I just know what I heard, but then again those CMs will leak all kinds of crazy stuff.

just to back up jaylenofan86 on all of this, since i started this tread....everything that he said is correct......Disney has no say, nor does any private company or person, over the airspace over there property.....I fly over it EVERYDAY and have for the past year.....the rules are 1000 ft over congested areas and 1000 ft over ''open air assemblies".....that is out of the Federal Aviation Regulations.....there is a 2000 ft restriction over the Animal Kingdom, but that is more for the animals..........HOWERVER...i do agree that it is possible for someone to use a plane in some sorta attack, or even as someone mentioned, inexperinced pilots....BUT couldnt someone carry in an envolope of Anthrax just as easy.....or couldnt you be killed by an inexperinced driver coming in on World Drive at 70mph just as easy.....bottom line is, there is NO way to be totally safe anytime you get alot of people together in a small area.........and that CM who told you that may have been refering to the temperary flight restrictions after 9-11........I can think of at least 4 helicoptor Co. that do sight seeing over the property everyday.....you may not ever notice small planes because there is so much else to look at....you can not hear them eather because of all the crowd and show noise.....next time you go, look and listen....you will be surprised.....

you wanna go flying????......send me a PM.......i give a great tour.......better then those coptor guys!!!!!!! cheaper too!!

that goes for anyone else...i would be glad to do it $$$$$

I was just wondering and a bit confused.... Isnt WDW in/near Class B airspace? Do you have to call MCO tower...or anybody.... to fly over or near it? Dont you have to file a flight plan with the F.A.A.? :)

MCO class B airspace over WDW goes from 6000ft msl to 10000ft msl.....to fly into that airspacem you would have to call orlando approach control, not MCO tower.......basically due to MCO 3 runways being north/south.....most of the B airspace is not to the east or west......you can fly over Sea World (below 2000ft) and USF (below 6000 ft) and WDW (below 6000 ft) all without talking to anyone on the radio......

and no, VFR (most GA aircraft in good weather) flights do NOT have to file flight plans with the FAA, only IFR (all airlines and some GA)....hope this clears it up for you......anything else?? just ask.....i know alot about 2 things....FLYING and WDW.....good thing i work at both :)

lol...ok cool...thanks for the info :D

Here is a tricky one... lets say you are on VFR.... but a storm moves in and the ceiling drops to 800ft...then you have to move to a higher altitude, and on IFR.... I am just messing with ya :p
Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

in a C-152....cost about $100 per hour.....but only seats one.....could do the flight in about a half hour.....so 50....

in a C-172.....cost about $130 per hour......could seat 2 or 3 small people.....a half hour would run about $85.....but divided by 2 or 3

:)
