I love that DL's Main St still has movies in the movie theater, games in the Penny Arcade, Party Line phones in the Starbucks and an actual show in the Opera House. Were you able to experience any of those?

Great report, thanks! But there was no mention of the best dark ride on the planet - Indiana Jones Adventure! Ack!! lol. Maybe I missed it :)
No- you didn't miss it! I forgot to really highlight it!! It truly was a fantastic ride! I was honestly super impressed by it on many levels!!

Love this post. I am a Southern California native and have been doing Disneyland my entire life. At least once a year until we had kids, and then we were going monthly with the passes. Moving to the midwest certainly put a damper on my Disney-fest, but then we discovered Disneyworld and TOTALLY feel everything you mentioned was true. For me, there is a certain homeyness to Disneyland, it's small and comfy. And holy yes, WHY is California Adventure so much better than DHS? I think that's always my biggest disappointment on WDW trips, I expect one thing and get another, every time.

I completely agree with you about California Adventure! It was my favorite part of our trip!
I like their Innoventions much better than ours, but I think our nighttime entertainment is much better. Also, obviously our castle is bigger and in my opinion, more breathtaking.
I also loved that they had Mr. Toad still, but I missed Philharmagic.

My daughter and I are hoping to visit Disneyland for her 8th grade graduation present in 2017. I love reading about DL and hearing about the difference. We are actually looking forward to visiting DL for the differences.

Growing up, I've never been to Downtown Disney in WDW. I never thought I wanted to go because all I wanted to do was spend time in the parks. In Disneyland, you are in walking distance to Downtown Disney and thought it was awesome! Now on my next trip to WDW, I'll be definitely visiting Disney Springs.

Even before the recent renovation, Florida's Downtown Disney was far more impressive and pleasant to walk in than Anaheim's. Of course, its also several times it's size and age, and the lake helps.

Your loss.
The Pacific Ocean is amazing and everyone I ran into out there was very friendly.
I'm also puzzled by people who have no urge to see the other parks. To me that's like deciding you don't need to see England because you like France. I'd love to see all the parks, it's the differences that make traveling so fun.

I love the way put that. And I agree, it's a mystery to me too. I have to believe it's an extreme sense of loyalty, maybe?

I remember being at WDW and this guy started to talking to me on the bus about how much he loved and admired Walt Disney. So I asked him if he had ever been to Disneyland. He gave me at strange look and asked me why would he go to California if Florida has so much more.

I told him since he loves Walt Disney so much, I would imagine that visiting the only Disney theme park on earth that he built himself would be of interest. He thought about it but then dismissed the idea. I found it unusual.
