WDW Christmas Question

The Boardwalk also has a Gingerbread Carousel that's pretty cool and every resort seems to put up some sort of edible display if I remember correctly.

I went last year right before Christmas and it was so much fun. Do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!!! It was so fun and it's really neat to see all the special parades and whatnot. Plus "free" hot cocoa, cookies, and apple slices.

I remember we went to Wilderness Lodge briefly to wander around and they had the most beautiful tree... the hotel really exuded the Christmas spirit and just made you want to sit in a comfy chair and read a book in front of the Christmas tree. I'd recommend stopping there to unwind in the afternoon (if you aren't already staying there).

That's just my 2 cents.

Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party is a hard ticket event. I've you've never been it is something to strongly consider.

Candlelight Processional is something you may want to plan for. It takes place three times each night at Epcot in the America Gardens Theater. You can just stop by and watch from the walkway, you can wait in the stand-by line for seating (often very long) or you can buy a dinner package that provides seating (you still need to queue about 1/2 hour before the showtime). It is a very special and inspiring presentation that everyone would want to see at least once.

Most deluxe hotels have very nice displays or presentations including AKL, WL, Beach Club, Boardwalk and GF. If you are not focused on rides and have a few hours to stroll in the afternoons, these locations are very special.

Thank you all for the great information. The Candlelight Processional and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party sound awesome.

Sounds like the first week or so of December is the best time to go.

We're trying to decide between Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Contemporary resort. We've never stayed at either. We typically stay at the value and moderate resorts. But are seriously considering slurging this time around. Is one better than the other?

The Contemporary is very convenient to get to the MK and Epcot due to being on the monorail line, but for the money we love AKL and the savannah view rooms. If you have kids I would pick AKL every time. If it is just my wife and I we would probably rotate picks every time we went.

First or second week. There is a slight fly in the ointment called Pop Warner Football and Cheerleaders that happens around this time as well. Never bothered me too much for for some it is a hassle. Not so much in the parks, but at some of the resorts, primarily All Stars, but groups are in some of the mods and even deluxes now

One additional item to add to the Holiday mix....taping of the Christmas Parade. This usually takes place the first weekend in Dec. (Dec. 4&5 this year) where Main Street is affected for that Fri. and Sat. up to the castle. If you get beyond that however, it is pretty much park as usual. Some people enjoy seeing it, also some celebs around, others consider it a hassle to avoid.
