Anyone else notice the info being pushed out by Disney lately has been calling the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade, the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade. I liked the WDW in the name, Disney Parks is just so plain. I do see it making more since with DL segments. Perhaps they'll throw in some clips from Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong? each has great offerings this year.:xmas:

While the holiday season at the Disneyland Resort doesn’t officially start until November 13, Selena Gomez spread some holiday cheer at Disneyland park today.
Selena will appear in the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade on ABC later this year and was seen taping a segment and playing with Stitch in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle.

Info that was once on the registration site(link below) is also posted on another site and quoted below.

Earlier this week Al Lutz on the front page of Miceage.com also said this about the TV special...

If you are heading to the park Sunday to see this snazzy new show, be prepared for headaches as much of the park is shut down for filming of the rebranded "Disney Parks Christmas Special" to be broadcast Christmas Day on ABC. - Al Lutz

It makes sense, since they always "cut to Disneyland" for at least a few musical numbers during the show. I saw Bob Iger and his family at Disneyland on Friday, and filming for the Christmas Special continues at Disneyland all this week, so maybe they are going to do half of the show at Disneyland and half at WDW this year, and thus the name change?

Ugh...HATE the name...(Just call it DISNEY, sheesh)...but excited about prospects from other parks. DL is half the show, anyway.

anyway, either way, looking forward to the two hour Disney Christmas Commercial, anyway.:lookaroun:lol:

Ugh, so stupid. I also can't stand the new commercials with the Muppets, when they make mention of a free ticket to "Disney". That was always a pet peeve of mine when people referred to Walt Disney World as simply Disney, and now they're doing it officially. :brick:

I suppose "Disney's Christmas Day Parade" would suffice, but I guess they were

a. Trying to include more branding

OR

b. To simply acknowledge DL

Gahh, they should just make it "Disney's Christmas Day Parade" Makes much more sense and gives a bigger Disney feeling for everyone watching on ABC.

When I first saw this thread I thought that maybe they were going to take out the word Christmas. I am glad that is not the case. I like Disney's Christmas Parade!!!!

I always liked the old name since it was WDW hosting the event with DL tagging along in later years... I guess it was goig to happen sooner or later though since in later years it was equally DL and WDW with the air time.

You know those are national commercials that run on both east and west coasts... hence the reasoning behind free ticket to disney as you get a ticket to DL or WDW... would you rather they say to disney parks?

Yeah, I think Disney suffices for the Mupet ads. And I wish they had just left it at as "Disney's Christmas Parade." The Disney parks branding, while more appropo in this sense, just adds uncessary and useless branding.

This is more correct and not so misleading.
Calling it the 'Christmas Day parade' and making it look like it's being broadcast live is not very honest, even if they never actually say, 'live from Disney World'.

At Disneyland today they were filming the Christmas Parade floats on Main Street (that doesn't start for two more weeks), plus a concert by Selena in front of the Castle, and also filming Anika Noni Rose singing the music from Princess and the Frog in New Orleans Square this morning. There was filming everywhere.

Disneyland has been full of executives all weekend, with Bob Iger and his family wandering around the park the past two days, John Lasseter and his family taking part in Tiana's Showboat Jubilee on the Mark Twain this afternoon, and the creative animation team from Princess and the Frog also taking part in Tiana's Showboat Jubilee on Friday. It seems that this new retitled TV Christmas Special is very important to Burbank, as they all drove down to Disneyland for the weekend for the taping!

There are signs up around all the filming at Disneyland this weekend announcing that it's for the "Disney Parks" Christmas Day TV Special, so it looks like it's official.

I completely agree with this. "Disney" is not a place, so it makes no sense in that context. The fact that they are officially using/condoning this usage seems really strange to me, since Disney marketing is usually very particular in its terminology. Its almost like they don't even care any more?

As much as I hate the use of "Disney Parks" branding, it would actually make more sense in those commercials if they said "get a free ticket to a Disney park" instead of "get a free ticket to Disney."

Oh well.

Not quite sure why I'd want to see the extra word, but Walt Disney's Christmas Day Parade is what I'd get the most butterflies from... :o
