Did anyone at WDW today see the Air Force Thunderbirds overfly the MK & Epcot?

Apparently Disney brought them in as a surprise for YOAMD.

They came over Celebration this afternoon at very low altitude - 5 jets in very tight formation heading for Dis with a 6th jet trailing in order to film it.

I'm told they overflew MK and Epcot six times. Hopefully the video will surface soon.

(Or maybe they were after those pesky DHS UFOs)

USAF THUNDERBIRDS TO PERFORM AT SUN 'N FUN 2008
12/12/2007

For Immediate Release

SUN ’N FUN CAMPUS, LAKELAND, Fl. – (December 11, 2007) – The United States Air Force (USAF)Thunderbirds military jet team announced today that the Sun ’n Fun Fly-In has been included on this year’s Thunderbirds schedule. The announcement was made today at the International Council of Airshows (ICAS) Convention currently underway in Las Vegas, NV. The 2008 Sun ’n Fun Fly-In will be held April 8 – 13 at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Fla.
“Sun ’n Fun is honored and excited to hear that the world’s most recognized military jet team – the Thunderbirds – has included our event on their 2008 schedule,” said Sun ’n Fun President and Convention Chairman John Burton. “Their participation will add to the aircraft and activities already being planned for this year’s Fly-In. We look forward to having the Thunderbirds here in Lakeland and know they will find the people and businesses throughout Lakeland, Polk County and central Florida to be avid enthusiasts and most hospitable hosts.”

The Thunderbirds plan to arrive at Sun ’n Fun during the early portion of the Fly-In and remain through the remainder of the week. They may engage in individual media flights and possibly a team orientation flight prior to their scheduled performances on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13.

According to the U.S. Air Force, the Thunderbirds (officially named the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron) perform precision aerial maneuvers demonstrating the capabilities of Air Force high-performance aircraft to people throughout the world. The Thunderbirds squadron is an Air Combat Command unit composed of eight pilots (including six demonstration pilots), four support officers, three civilians and more than 130 enlisted personnel performing in 25 career fields. The air demonstration is a combination of formation flying and solo routines.
The four-aircraft “Diamond Formation” demonstrates the training and precision of Air Force pilots, while the solo aircraft highlight the maximum capabilities of the F-16 “Fighting Falcon,” the fighter jet employed by the Thunderbird Team.
The Thunderbirds perform approximately 30 maneuvers during their demonstration. The entire Thunderbird performance, including ground and air routines, runs about an hour and fifteen minutes.

I happened to be driving away from Downtown Disney when they flew over today and scared the heck out of me... they were LOUD and unexpected. I tried looking around for them for a second, but I was driving away so I didn't see anything.

I don't think, I know it's April and the article states - today for preparations for a November show. It is possible that they are both in Florida today.

Word.

Besides, Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, etc., do flyovers and demonstrations like this to essentially give people a good show, give them an appreciation of the skill and precision it takes to pilot a super-sonic aircraft. It doesn't really matter if they have weapons on them or not, you don't see "target practice" or anything in these kind of demonstrations. It's just a jet showing you the impressiveness of aviation.

Those are amazing images!

I knew they were in Florida only because our friends are with them at the moment- didn't realize they were flying over WDW. Cool pictures!

I got to see them buzz MGM! We were in the parking lot at MGM when they were flying low with the smoke (in hindsight to get that great Spaceship Earth shot!)

It was REALLY awesome. I wasn't able to get a picture. (THEY WERE FAST!)

Update coming soon, though!
