They came back about 25 minutes after I first posted. It seems that monorail silver died on the Epcot Beam and they had to get it off and swap it out with Monorail Yellow.I didn't see anything on Twitter, are they still down?
Yea, yea. I've heard that story and know about it. But cmon. You're telling me that it happened SOLELY because Disney wanted to appease it's fans and NOT make a quick buck? I'm not saying that the fans had nothing to do with it, all I'm saying is Disney saw they could make easy money on these sorts of things.Yes.
Disney originally had no plans to publically celebrate or honor Epcot's 25th Anniversary.
Only private, backstage gatherings for Cast Members were planned.
A press interview noting nothing planned upset a lot of long term fans of the Park, but one of them decided to do something about it.
It was on this very Forum that a poster created a thread rallying fans to show up on October 1st and 'celebrate regardless' and it changed history.
Soon a few other fans joined in and offered to help make it happen and it snowballed into a big deal at the time.
A small but dedicated team of fans banded together via that thread to help arrange the different activities we planned for the day, and word started to spread like wildfire.
It recieved so much attention that the Orlando Sentinal ran a story about this 'fan uprising' and Disney did a complete turnaround in attitude.
The 'fan rally' gathered so much support and media attention, Disney now felt they had to do something.....and they did!
It was soon officially announced that Epcot would indeed be getting a special Park wide , public celebration.
Special ceremonies, limited edition merch, park maps, pins, menu items, and more were lined up.
This is commonplace today, but in 2007 it was eye opening ....exspecially when nothing was originally planned to happen!
We ended up having a massive gathering of thousands of fans, Cast ( past and present ), WDW Management, Imagineers, and Disney personalities who all came to town to take part.
Marty Sklar was even there and did several presentations that day in the Park.
Not bad for a few fans who banded together and made a real difference.
How do I know this...?
Because I was the one who posted that original thread right here, and started it all.
The fans made their voice heard, and Disney did a complete turnaround.
What a marvelous turnaround it was, too.

No, no. Just ucf.I think he was referring to college students in general.
Does anybody know if EPCOT is doing anything to acknowledge its 34th today?
One thing that I wanted that wasn't on the parks app and is in park only. Unfortunately I'm not in Florida...I'm an impulse buyer

Thanks! Here is the map they're giving out today. Only crappy part is the 45+ minute line to get 45th anniversary merch at Emporium
Yeah...they blew the budget on the park mapsYou saw there was a poster inside of it, right? I thought that was neat. Picked one up on my way out today.
I purchased the light blue version last night . Do you know if there is any way to change my order to take advantage of this offer? I would love to have the dark blue one as well, and it wouldn't cost much more than what I paid.
Same here.. went to the Springs instead. Glad I avoided MK today.Sounds like my decision to stay home and get some merch online was the right one
Haha I finally opened the map after a few hours and was pleasantly surprised hahaYou saw there was a poster inside of it, right? I thought that was neat. Picked one up on my way out today.

Silver was the one that they were doing automation testing on earlier in the week.
