Water Parks EMH gone?

We are currently in the World. Arrived yesterday and much to our surprise, the current times guide (and a check of the infamously inaccurate Disney website) shows that they are no longer doing morning Extra Magic Hours at the Water Parks (at least this week and next week). Anyone know any more about this??

We might call or check at Guest Relations today to verify, but wondering if anything had gone under our radar about those not happening...

Very interesting. They were indeed on the schedule at one point, but appear to have been removed for all of July and August.

Has anyone been to one this summer?

Yes, I went on July 9 and arrived at Blizzard Beach at 7:55 AM for an 8:00 AM opening, having looked up the hours on WDWMagic.:)

When I arrived the CM told me that all water park EMH hours for the year were cancelled in April.

At least I got the seat of my choice!

Were the EMH at the water parks ever busy? Or is this just another cut from TDO to keep giving less to the guests while charging them more?

So, seems like an operations cut due to no demand... Thanks! I never used the water parks anyway...

I don't think demand should even be considered here. This was a perk that Disney promoted and offered to its resort guests as a benefit of staying on site (at ridiculously inflated rates, I might add). For those who did take advantage of it, it was a tremendous benefit. Also, the fact that you "never used the water parks anyway" really is irrelevant. There are several million guests every year who do.

It seems they quietly removed these from the schedule.

Also, am I crazy or did they offer evening EMH's a few years back at Typhoon lagoon? I guess that didn't catch on, but it seemed like it could be fun.

Demand absolutely has to be considered. Perks are not give out by a business out of the kindness of their heart. They are there to generate more business. If a perk is not being used, a company would be a fool not to cut it.

I'd bet that this EMH time was less utilized than the 3rd hour of the parks' EMH. I just can't imagine that there was a large demand for people to go to the water parks at 8am.

I'm not saying that this justifies the cuts per se but it is probably more reasonable than cutting back from 3 to 2 hours with the evening EMH.

As an aside, I didn't even realize that the water parks had extra magic hours.

Not that I ever saw which was a good thing for us, but bad for Disney.

That was always our thought on those mornings. Both that and the removal of the 3rd night EMH seem like sound business decisions that really bum me out. No worries, though - perhaps good management decisions will spread....

Relax there crazy kid... I am not defending the decision... I was just trying to figure out how busy EMH were for the water parks and if that is factoring into the decision... Rubes who continue to pay Disney's prices deserve to be taken for a ride... You have to be an idiot to pay Disney's prices to stay on property... or a pixie dust addict... There are no incentives anymore... This is yet another one...

At the same time, I can see the business side of it...

I guess I took your post the wrong way. Too many people on these boards (or elsewhere) defend any guest-unfriendly policy Disney makes with comments like "Well, it doesn't bother me, we don't do [insert cut back service here] anyway". I think that attitude is harmful to all guests. Eventually, it will be something that you do care about. I don't care especially for morning EMH's (we have gone to them occasionally), but I that doesn't mean that I think they should eliminate them, even if it technically wouldn't affect me.

Just because you don't like or take advantage of something doesn't mean there aren't literally millions of paying guests who do.

I said I don't use the water parks anyway, not to mean I don't care about the removal of EMH... I don't use the water parks so I really had no idea how busy EMH were... Maybe I could have worded it better...

And honestly, it makes me hate TDO even more when I hear about more cuts and increasing prices... I understand what you are saying... And agree with ya... Like I said, there really is no incentive to stay on Disney property anymore, not at their prices anyway...

Worse are those who defend every quality cut or price increase with "They are just a company trying to make money". Gotta love it when a consumer defends a producer. I wonder if they say the same thing when gas prices increase by 50 cents, when their food bill is up 10%, or rent is no longer affordable. Or maybe it's just pixie dust in their eyes?;)

Also like the "If you don't like it, go somewhere else". I do. To Universal. A lot.:D

Apples and oranges. Disney is a luxury item. Do you complain about the cost of a Ferrari or just buy a Toyota instead?

Then pick your favorite luxury item: TV, cell phone plan, iPad, restaurant, etc. How many defend AT&T or Apple when they raise their prices?

It's pixie dust talking.

I just "buy" Universal instead.

Instead of a Ferrari with a few dings and a set of bald tires, I buy a new Porche up I-4.:p
