Water in park

I just figure that if I am going to spend thousands of dollars on my vacation, I am not about to lug around water all day long to save $2.75. When I get thirsty I buy a bottle of water and move on. When I figure what I have already spent, it's just chump change to me. I budget it before the trip and am able to go to the parks with no back packs, extra cups or anything that doesn't just fit in my pockets. I believe that life simplicity is worth something. I also am not going to go into pay as you go dining places and beg for free water. Just how I was brought up I guess, right or wrong.

I'm right there with you for the most part. (I don't think getting free water from CS locations is "begging". Some of the restaurants actually have it sitting on the counter ready for people to just take.) When we got to Disney, we do take a case or two of water with us to keep in the room and drink there, but we also go to the parks bag free so we buy bottled water when we're not in the room. No one in our family likes the taste of the water from the Disney water fountains or the free water at CS locations so even though Dasani isn't our favorite water (when it comes to bottled water we prefer spring water as opposed to purified drinking water), it is the best option. We also include the cost of buying water in the parks as part of our vacation cost estimates. We don't go on vacation to "save" money, we go on vacation to relax and have a good time (another reason that even if we stay somewhere with a full kitchen, I will never use. Even if we do a staycation, we either go out to eat or get take out for lunch and dinner almost every day. It's not vacation if I still have to work.). If we can't afford to spend an extra $125-$150 on drinks over a 7 day vacation, then we shouldn't be taking a $7000 vacation. If others prefer to drink the free water, that's fine (I'd probably be much more likely to do it if actually tasted good); but I won't do it just to save few bucks in the scheme of things.

Our systems cannot handle tap water. Unless I'd like to spend the majority of the vacation in the bathroom, I drink bottled water. I tried spending less money a little over a year ago on drinks. Did not end well.

We have been refilling bottles with water from a big jug we keep in the room. Then we each carry one or two with us. Saves a bit of money.

Bottled water usually is tap water.

And I drink tap water just fine at home. But FL tap water is the worst. Like I said, cannot drink the tap water down jb FL unless I'd like to spend the entire time in the bathroom.
It sounds like it tastes/smells just like well water - blech!! I actually prefer tap water when I'm home. Not if it is well water though...I will gag. Glad I ordered some bottles for our trip :)

^ This.

As a born and raised Brit we'll happily sit in an over-rated restaurant, eat over-priced food and drink watered down soda. Our only complaints will be passive aggressive comments made to our loved ones before bed! (Disney prices aren't even all that bad all things considered)

But seriously, as a very pale and pasty Brit who suffers tremendously in any temperature above 15 degrees celsius, I don't hold back on rehydrating. I find a that a bottle of Powerade in the afternoon provides a nice pick-me-up after the searing Florida heat.

There's no real chemical difference between tap water and bottled water usually, so just ask for water from any Quick Service place. It's free, and it's the same as bottled water.

There is a HUGE difference between bottled water and Florida tap water. Tap has a very sulfuric taste, while bottled water (depending on the brand) tastes like it's right out of a spring. LOVE Dasani!

Dasani water comes from tap water..... I've actually tasted water out of a spring, because I dived down into one and took a sip. I tasted no difference. Chemical studies have shown that most bottled water has no chemical difference between tap water, except that tap water has more fluoride which is better for your teeth. Look it up.

Yes. There are 2 main types of bottled water -- Purified Drinking water and Spring water. The Purified Drinking water (like Dasani) is "surface" water -- it simply comes from the public water system of whatever city it is bottled in. Coco Cola (or whatever company) "repurifies" it with it's own concoction of procedures/chemicals so that it tastes the same no matter where you buy it (at least that's what I've been told by someone who works at a Coca Cola bottling facility). Spring water (also somewhat purified) comes from an underground source. Personally, I think Purified Drinking water tastes like "city" water and Spring water tastes like well water.

It doesn't much matter to me what the facts are. I have personally tasted Florida water, and I have personally had many bottles of Dasani. And by far I prefer the taste of Dasani. I don't care what the filtration science is or whether it's from a tap or a spring. Dasani in the bottle tastes great - Florida tap water does not.

I like bottles of water... not so much about taste... but sometimes when I visit places and I drink the tap water I do not feel too well.:hungover: I never have that problem with bottled water... even though I know the water was probably bottled somewhere other than where I am used to... So maybe it's in my head... but I hate feeling sick on vacation! so bottled water it is!

With 4 adults drinking at least 6 bottles of water a day at $2.50 each we would spend approximately $600.00 on our next vacation to Disney on bottled water. That is not including the "other" types of drinks (Pop, flavoured lemonade, coffee, slushies, etc.) we would order during lunch/ dinner and relaxing at the AKL. So I ordered 8 cases of water that will be delivered by Garden Grocer on the day we arrive. Yes, I paid a premium for ordering from a delivery company ($8 per case of 32 bottles of water) but I would rather pay $64.00 compared to $600.00 on water. I did not really pay a delivery fee because Garden Grocer had a "special" on that if you ordered 60 days in advance you would receive a 10% discount. With the other items ordered the 10% discount basically covered the delivery fee. We are flying in and using DME... we are not renting a vehicle. It is also handy to order full size things (sunscreen, etc.) when travelling carry on only!

My DH and I used Garden Grocer on our last trip as well and it worked out beautifully. We put water in the fridge overnight and put 2 or three in each of our park bags in the morning. We refilled the fridge before we left... when we came back to the resort we would add cold bottles to our packs and refill the fridge again and head out to the parks in the evening.

So you can enjoy bottled water at a discounted price... yes paying more than "free" tap water but it's vacation... so my philosophy is splurge a little... but save where you can!! ;)
