Was there a better option in mind ever for Snow White Scary Adv.?

Does anyone else believe Disney couldve better utilized the space where Snow White's Scary Adventures once was? I just feel the space couldve been been used for dare I day....a storybook ride. Instead of Princesses, Princesses, princesess, why not Mr. Toad, Alice in Wonderland, or Pinnochio? I know from going 100+ times that Fantasyland was much more than princesses at one point. I just feel that making another meet and greet (I hate that phrase) for princesses was a waste and was only because of budget concerns. Any thoughts/opinions?

Management hates meet n greets. If they had their way, everyone would be gone as they are very expensive to operate in terms of labor and have incredibly poor guests per hour numbers. They build them because they are in high demand by guests.

As to your question, the other option was to leave Snow White alone and build a meet n greet where Snow White's coaster is currently being built.

The original plan was to make the new meet n greet non destructive, inside of the shell building. They wanted an option to return the building in the future to a ride if possible. Not the ride that was removed, mind.

You'd have thought with all the cheap tents still in Storybook Circus something better could have been developed.

Although PhotoPass enjoys the revenue

I certainly think it could have been rethemed into another type of ride since they didn't want to double up on Snow White. I like getting my pictures taken with characters but I do not need or want elaborately themed meet and greet areas to do this. I like seeing the characters out in the parks, like in the town square area of Main Street or along the sidewalk of Frontierland. Meet and greet areas...

Yeah I think PFH will be the biggest waste of space. Idk why they couldn't just build something elsewhere for them..,and leave the old Snow White building for a future ride.

Why the heck doesn't Aladdin have a decent dark ride in ANY Disney park yet?

Dl has two Alice rides. They could have definitely left snow whites. Really tired of meet n greets.

I agree. The character meet and greets are in high demand. Meeting a favorite character and getting a picture and autograph is very exciting to some children. I have no problem with adding even more Meet and Greets as long as they are not replacing existing attractions. My only complaint is that its turned into "all princesses, all the time". I would like to see the types of characters rotated on some kind of schedule so other characters can get some face time with the public.

I'm guessing from your use of "original plan was" this is no longer the case? I haven't kept up with the Hall's construction so I thought the future use as a ride part was still in the cards.

When I look at the park map, I wonder/wish they could have built the Fairytale Hall at the current location of the Fairytale Garden (where Merida is currently). That space is smaller than the SWSA building, but not by a lot. That would have left SWSA able to keep running or they could have converted it to another ride if they wished to avoid having two Snow White rides in the park

If they wanted to keep the Fairytale Garden running, they could have build something similar in the Hub.

As great as it is to have opportunities to meet the characters I find it highly unnecessary that there are far too many locations to meet the princesses at WDW. I'd rather see other characters from the princess movies being available for meet and greets too.

Granted we don't have kids, but there was never a moment in my house where we went "Awesome!" Or even "Ok cool" to the news. It was more of a grimace and sarcastic look with no sound. All for the characters and character meals, and having a few M&Gs but with Belle being little more than a glorified M&G, the makeover of the circus, etc it just seemed unnecessary to choose between tearing down a ride for a M&G or keeping the old ride and not doing a new one in order to make a M&G. Princesses bring in the bucks, but boys are being more and more lost it feels in MK and this kinda pushes it further.

Well, I never rode the ride so I can't speak from experience to say if the ride was worthy of keeping or not. I mean, there are probably tons of possibilities and scenarios that could've played out. Symbolically, the princesses now truly belong in Fantasyland but that's just a symbolic POV and may not exactly be the best argument in the support of the new M&G hall.

I know not everyone is on board with the idea of another princess M&G spot everywhere but greater access to the most popular characters is important because I don't think it's fair to only offer one way towards meeting the more popular characters. Think about the family living on a tight budget who can never afford character dining. A regular meet and greet maybe their only chance for their child to see that character. It's up to families to decide what they're willing to trade off for their children to meet a character if they agree to character dining over regular M&Gs or vice versa. Are they willing to fork over a ton of money for character dining and not deal with the crowded lines or stand in a regular M&G line, not have to pay anything at the moment for taking photos with the option to buy or turn down additional Photopass pics later on. From videos I've seen, character dining M&Gs seem a lot quicker and more rushed than a regular ones, I might add. Bottom line is that, there are options for different people just like there are different hotel options at WDW.

Regarding why princesses over others, well, it's a large brand for Disney. 4 billion dollars in global sales from what I heard. (Money a lot of us will never make in a lifetime.) For the most part, people come to see the big names, not the smaller ones. That's just the way it is. I know that alienating other characters, particularly ones from the non-princess films doesn't seem fair or right because they are "milking it" so to speak. I would think that Disney is targeting the non-FL/non AP holders because that's where the most money comes from. But I mean, only the true die-hards are going to come out and meet a character that a fair majority have no idea who they are whereas having a princess M&G will attract more people from all different parts of the world. Could they offer just Flynn Rider or Jack Sparrow with a regular M&G instead of princesses? Of course, they could. But for whatever reason, the princesses are seen to have greater value hence the new hall being built. That's just my two cents.

If you want my personal opinion, they should have put a cloned version of Disneyland's Pinocchio's Daring Journey in there. That's my favorite dark ride of all time and WDW's Fantasyland needs some Pinocchio other than PVH.
