Hi Everyone,

I know that a lot of you are keen to discuss the conflict over in Iraq. As with political discussions, we have a large number of differing opinions, that ultimately end in people getting upset with each other. As this is primarily a Disney forum, I ask that you contain your war discussions to private emails and chat rooms.

I would also request that you refrain from potentially inflamatory political/war statements in your signatures and avatars.

Thank you for your understanding :)

I think we all appreciate the hard work that you put into keeping the peace! Thank you, Steve! :sohappy:

Steve, I totally agree. I feel that it is appropriate to mention the war if it has a specific personal effect upon us (ie we have a loved one who has been deployed, and would like a little morale boosting), or if it affects Disney. Otrherwise, it becomes political.

Personally, I have never understood why people get so offended when they hear a different point of view on something.

I have my opinions like everybody else but I'm ALWAYS welcome to have them challenged. In fact, I enjoy listening to another side. Actually,.... doing so has changed the way I look at some issues. ( Wow,... Imagine that !! ) LOL

I just don't understand why people are so defensive when a differing view is expressed. It's like we pick a certain side of an issue, sit down in front of it, close our eyes, put our fingers in our ears and refuse to even "budge" from that point forward. LOL

It's a good policy though. It should help to keep feelings from getting hurt in the forums....and that's certainly the most important thing.

Very well said. And it's exactly the main problem with this particular subject. you try sharing with others the opinions you have on the matter and all hell breaks loose!

Exactly!

I mean,....conflicting opinions ARE bad things,....right?

Wait....It's actually better to have opinions that,.....don't conflict......right?

Of course,...Y'now,...In another thread, I was going to give my opinion on what I think is the best park at WDW....but at the risk of offending anybody with a different opinion,...It's just best that I keep that to myself.

Right,....I have seen threads like that escalate quickly at get real nasty in the past.

Next thing y'know,...somebody replies with "No,..your favorite park is lame". Then you get somebody else with "..Oh yeah?...My mother is a CM in that park and I'll have you know that she busts her butt 40 hours a week to make sure that guests have a good time...." Then,..of course,...you get:..." Oh,..I hope your mom isn't the CM in the egg roll stand next to Great Movie Ride...cause that was the worst service I ever got!..." :fork:

The whole thing just gets worse and worse and pretty soon, in swoops Steve to kill the thread. As a group, I've seen that we don't deal with conflicting opinions very well.... LOL ! :D

Yeah,..In my opinion, conflicting opinions don't belong around here.

I'm sure that we will ALL agree on that.

LOL...I know what you meant. I was being a litte bit sarcastic about the whole "opinion" thing in general.

But seriously now,...I DO believe we are a bit too sensitive about this kind of thing in general.

I think we should be adult enough to have civilized discussions about ANY topic. We should be able to understand that everyone has their own point of view. Finaly, we should all be able to respectfully disagree on topics like this and just leave it at that.

My point is: It's "OK" to disagree as long as we stay civilized.

But,...hey,..that's just me. Some people prefer to "freak out" instead when they hear an opinion that is not inline with theirs.

I personaly enjoy tossing an issue around in the arena of ideas.

I guess that's not practical here.
