Walt's Apartment in the WDW castle (ANSWERS)

Well, since the CM is on the planning team for WDW events. I'd say they are reliable. But belive what you want.

Do you know the difference between a JOKE and serious information?

And I've got some info for you.
I know, for a FACT, what's going to happen to this "Castle room" as soon as the Year of a Million Dreams is over, and the last lucky guests have "checked out."

Well, I think I'll take thw word of a Disney CM that I talk to then some one on a web board that I know nothing about.
Take a look at Corrus' profile. His occupation is accurate and take a wild guess which company he did that particular occupation for. Corrus is on the level and much higher up the food chain than a front line CM.

I don't blame you for questioning it, people on discussion boards claim to be things they are not all the time, however Corrus is not one of those people.

As to the topic...If the plans were already done prior to Walt's death then there would be no reason to change them in order to remove the space that was to hold Walt's apartment. The finishes (carpet, molding furniture etc.) would not be installed but the unfinished room would remain. It is well documented that is has been used for both the switchboard and as a dressing room and there is no reason to think that the room could not be redone to serve as the living space that it was originally intended to be.

well if you'd rather take the word of some frontline CM over two people who have worked fairly high up with Disney then so be it. I won't stop you.

I've heard this rumor different places, and I've known about the space for the apartment for years, so this rumor is pretty plausible to me. But that doesn't mean it sounds like a good idea...

If they are going to complete and furnish the apartment in the Castle, it just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Once it closes, the MK is just sortof creepy, especially since the music keeps playing. All night. It's almost spooky, that it, until the janitors and painters show up. I mean, what's the upside of this experience, that you get to watch the third shift clean Main Street? Is there going to be Guest Services staff at the castle all night in case you need something, or will you end up talking to some maintenance guy named Earl? Will you be able to leave the building, or will you be trapped in the castle all night, a virtual prisoner of the Mouse? I'm guessing that Disney will figure out the details, but this has lots of potential problems.

Why? So only the super sick can use it?

I think it should never be "rented" out. That would only allow the "Super Rich" to enjoy it.

I think it would be best served as a Make A Wish Foundation gift.

Or did I misunderstand that your point was accessibility?

Make it into a conf room...there are never enough of those in any company.

Since when???? I have been in the MK REALLY late when they are still getting the last 100 or so guest out and alot of the music is already turned off.
I've been in the MK for over 24 straight hours... at 3am, with no guests on Main Street... and the music is still playing... in every land.

Isnt that what Dan Rather said too?

Just curious.
"106 [degrees] in the valley...I was sweating like Dan Rather checking for forged documents."
Jay Leno, September 10, 2004, on The Tonight Show

"What are the odds that Dan Rather would have accepted such patently phony documents from, say, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth?"
Ann Coulter, September 16, 2004.

I mean it would be exciting and all to stay in the castle, but it would seem scary. I would feel like I was invading the Disney family's space.

Sorry to deviate too far from the topic but are the other parks involved in the YOMD and if so, will DL be using Walt's apartment for give aways?
To me, this would be awesome. Can you imagine the presence of Walt by just spending the night in his apartment?

No, there's a special penthouse in the Disneyland Hotel they're using. Besides, I'm not sure I'd want to stay in Walt's apartment with "Walt's presence." Too spooky for me.
