Walt Disney's Treasures Collection:wave5

They do seem to be in short supply, more so than the last set. At a Barnes & Noble I visited yesterday, I learned that one of its employees had pre-ordered one of the volumes and there were none otherwise for sale at that location. It took visits to two different Target stores to get what I wanted, but Target was not carrying the Spin & Marty or Swamp Fox volumes at all.

I can't give you a review right now. It seems that my children are giving me the Rarities and the Donald Duck volume 2 for Christmas, so under the tree they go. :brick:

I did go back to Best Buy today to get something and I thought I would just peruse the Disney DVD section assuming that there would be nothing left. Much to my surprise, they had about 10 copies of the Chronological Donald Duck Vol.2.

It was nice to see more copies there though they could have stocked up a little bit more while I was there the first time so I did not need to go to another location a second time. :)

Take care,
Greg

When I purchased mine at Best Buy in Seattle in the evening on the day of release, I found all four titles, but not a single one was filed in the normal categories (Disney, Family, Children, even checked TV Collections, just in case). I found a bulk stack of one title in a dump bin near the front of the store, found two other titles on the bottom shelf of a product cart facing a wall, and finally the last title in a randomly placed vertical stack on the back of an endcap. It looked like someone was slowly making room for them in the Disney section. All of the titles were in completely different parts of the store, though.

So my advice is, SCOUR the stores you're in when looking for these titles. Ask someone and then ask again if you have to. Best Buy in particular is notorious for putting bulk amounts of product in the most random places and not cross-merchandising it where you would expect to find it.

They've only been out a week... Keep looking!

Well, maybe I missed them at WallyWorld this year. I looked for them, but did not see them at all (and I mean on the week of December 5, and since then). I just assumed that Wal-Mart did not carry this set. But according to Woody, they did.

Hmm.

I want the Spin and Marty one and the Rarities one.

(I was actually hoping to have gotten one for Christmas; but I don't think that anyone who knows me around here in Richmond would have been able to find them either, especially if I knew what I was looking for and still didn't see them!)

I was at the Best Buy in Mpls and also in Brandon FL and saw many copies of all sets of tins. Maybe they were hiding them on the day of release because they knew I wanted a copy? :brick:

Best Buy always stick new releases at the front of the store. I work for their corporate office and I still always forget to check there! I also wish they would be more consistent with their placement of some titles.

Take care,
Greg

I just bought the Disney Rareties from DownTown Disney in Orlando! It was the last one and it was $32!! Geez! I had to bite the bullet and dished out the cash. It's a really excellent collection with not only some rare cartoons, some I haven't seen before, but also quite a few episodes of Disney's first animated and live action Alice shorts!!
