with a diminished experience will disney world reduce their pricing?
If parks were at full capacity and they needed to fill them, I think you'd see some discounts. As it is, from the outside it appears that their very limited supply is outweighed by a much heavier demand. Whether or not that's actually true, or how long it remains so if it is, is yet to be seen. Someone correct this if it's inaccurate, but I believe during an earnings report last year Disney showed lower park attendance but higher revenue. Fewer guests, but the ones there spent more money. That's what they need right now. They'll probably lose money either way during initial reopening, but with so few guests allowed, you're definitely going to want your biggest spenders. Discounts isn't the way to go here.

My package for September has been reset to a 'Recovery20 Disney Resort Hotel Package' and the discount has been supplied. I don't have my original confirm in front of me, but my new balance due does seem to be 35% less than before. Definitely makes the cost more attractive for what may or may not be in place when I go. As my DP was canceled, I will just use the amount of the discount as my food budget (and some extra spending money :)). The only email I have received to date was the announcement of the cancellations. My ADRs slowly faded away and my last holdout disappeared last night. I now have a blank slate to re-plan my trip.

Interesting. I got a slew of cancelation emails for ADRs and experiences today for my July reservation, but no new confirmation.

The Florida Keys opened to tourists on Monday. There was not the surge in business and people that was expected. Duval street is empty. No cruise ships. Some of our issues will also affect Disney. There are almost no foreign tourists and all bars are still closed. I am not sure how Disney makes up for the lack of foreign tourists. Our bars being closed is similar to Disney not having shows, fireworks, character meets, and parades. The Keys is not the same experience for many visitors without our bars. For many, the best part of their vacation here is having a few drinks and watching the sunset from a waterfront bar. We will not have those visitors return until the bars are open. Disney will have the same issues. For my family, the biggest issue with Disney is the lack of park hopping. We are up early, rope drop, then back at the pool about noon, nap, then a few hours at a different park. Only one park a day will keep us from making the 6 hour drive north.

I had posted before about the locals dislike of cruise ships here, and how they cause crowding while not spending much money. There was a petition to limit the size and environmental impact of cruise ships in Key West. This week it got enough signatures that it will be on the ballot this fall. When we had to vote to allow a study to widen our channel to let bigger ships into our port, it was defeated by a large majority. I would expect the same anti cruise ship result at our next election. This will mean no DCL ships in Key West.

That is very sad. Tourism employees that live in Key West that are unemployed are surely going through very tough times.

Same here. I had kids free QSDP. Went from 4700 to 3050 for 10 days at POP in late August. Probably a net savings of $300 for me based on my previous calculations on how much we would spend on OOP dining.

We have (already rebooked from May)
  • End of September (Pop Century- complimentary QS Dining Plan addon was included) 6 days
  • October 3 day Bahamas cruise (doubt that will happen)
  • October 5 days All Stars Movies
The QS Dining Plan is removed now, but no compensation offered so far. I guess as it was complimentary (and not purchased) we get nothing.. pretty sure their terms and conditions say "subject to change"

Hope my airline does not go bankrupt (WestJet) till end of September as we only got a flight credit, not a refund for May (YVR-MCO direct .. a dream)

Well as we can't get into the US right now anyways (traveling from Canada&Germany) this whole trip is still up in the air. *sigh*

I rescheduled for the third time from May to October with standard room rate at Pop Century. (They've had my deposit since March, the first one that got cancelled on me). I hope to apply any discounts that may show up for passholders or Florida Residents before then. All of my ADRs were removed. (Wasn't many but not a big deal to me.)

So you're saying that Disney should have compensated you for something that they gave you for free???????? Really????

Compensated in cash ? No (of course not)
Compensated in form of other perks or discounts? Sure..!

Of course we are still going (if we can), but a trip that costs me 15k, that has no park hopping(those tickets I paid for extra), no waterparks(?),no upfront DR or experiences and other limitations (we will see what happens in July), I expect Disney to 'work some magic' here (maybe limited priority seating or smth.)

Did you buy the park hopper tickets from Disney? If so, then I would expect them to refund that part, if, by the end of September, you won't be able to park hop. At the rate things are going, I have a feeling that Disney will be pretty much wide open by then.

All purchased via the Disney website during hotel booking, the tickets are the Park Hopper & More + Memory maker

Yep. Many people have asked Disney, and they cant say yet, so they are not refunding park hoppers until they know if its even possible.

It was part of a package? I would assume at some point disney will allow for modifications to packages again. And you could always change PH and length of tickets in the package.

So there may be legal terms preventing straight partial refunds on hopper part? I hope at minimum they could at least give a resort credit for the value of the hopper.

Originally it was booked for May (no package), then we moved it to September/October and upgraded the rooms to get free QSDP. As we didn't get 125% credit for rebooking at the time (we did for the cruise) we paid extra for the room upgrade.

If the waterparks are closed and no park hopping is available, we would lower them to regular park tickets. I would like to avoid cash refunds as we get quadrupple duped on CC payments and refunds.

=========
CAD to USD conversion fee on payment (slightly offset by my CC cashback)
CAD to USD conversion (horrible weak CAD last couple of years)
-------
USD to CAD conversion fee on refund
USD to CAD conversion ('Murphies law' makes it so we lose again here)
=========

We had it in the past that we could request some credits to be done on Disney gift cards, that works out much better for us.

We have a resort package starting July 10th. I assume that will have to be changed at some point since they don't open until the 11th. I'm not sure if I have heard anyone mention this but I just got off the phone with Disney reservations and she told me that my balance would not be due until 7 days prior to my trip. Normally it is due 30 days out. At this point we have only paid the $200 deposit. I'm glad because I could not see paying in full with so much up in the air.

I have a full week scheduled starting July 18th. I am sorry, but I am not interested in being a guinea pig. I think 2020 is out for me and my family. Its time to start looking at 2021 when FP and Dinning reservations, etc will be back. Very disappointed that the same money spent on a full Disney experience is still being accepted for 1/4 of the experience.

We have a July 6 Boardwalk Inn res. we would like to move to July 20. We will be the guinea pigs because we live 45 min away and believe first in will have a very safe visit with hopefully very low crowds, which will be very welcome because my mobility issues. We have no kids(all grown with their own kids) don't care about not having parades, fireworks or meets. Still waiting on Disney.
