Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

It took an hour, but I managed to get registered. The process took a long time to get in, but had fewer tech problems than I expected. I still think it was dumb to roll out a new registration process starting with Marathon Weekend, which is the biggest by far

Looking forward to Dopey #6!

What's the race retreat? worth it?

$268 for 18 pins??!!!???? :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

A VIP event - early entrance to the Expo, pre and post race food and beverages, changing area with porta potties, warm up area, etc. I do the race retreat for Princess Half.

ETA: I don't see a race retreat for Marathon weekend.

Good to know! I'll probably check it out when I register for 2019 princess next month.

Not having to share porta potties with 25,000 other runners is wonderful. The race retreat is in a huge tent. If it's cold, it's nice getting out of the cold and dark. They offer massages after the Half, but those are first come, first serve.

Plus, getting into the Expo an hour earlier, especially if there's special limited merchandise, like the D&B bags, Alex & Ani bracelets, limited edition magicband, is great. And no long lines to check out.

@LAKid53 already described it, but the worth will be heavily up to you. The tent is in the pre-staging area, so while it will let you stay warm/dry for longer pre-race, you will still need to leave 30-60 mins before the race start to get to the start area and they will close the tent pre-race. But if it's good weather, it may not be any benefit. And post race, you may or may not want to hang around, some people prefer to do their post workout routine and get cleaned up instead of hanging around. And the food may or may not be similar to what you eat pre/post race, so that may not help you much either. I'd suggest digging up some trip report-esque reviews online about the retreat and see if the pictures look like something you would like.

@DznyGrlSD - I did the race retreat for the half this year. It was something I added a few months after registering for the half because I started to feel a bit nervous about the size of the race and doing it solo (I was also signed up for the 5k, but was to do that with my sister and my DD who is 12.). I was very glad I had because this year's race weekend was COLD. In the end, I also ran the 5k solo because my sister, who is not a runner and not an athlete decided that it was too cold for her to do the 5k (and in all fairness it was too cold) and since she wasn't doing it, I saw no reason for my DD to get up at 3 am for the race. So in the end, by the time the half came around I was no longer freaked out about waiting around solo, but having waited in the cold two days earlier, I much appreciated the heated tent (and the shorter lines for the port-a-potties).

I gather runDisney will add the race retreat at a later time, because one isn't listed currently.
