We've seen this year after year with different names (e.g. "Discover Disney") aimed at Florida Residents. Overreacting much?I could see this as a replacement for APs right now.
Yeah, but they've done with for many years under various names such as "Discover Disney."Thats kind of funny, its during the few lull weeks they have and only open to residents to keep the demand a bit lower. Make the parks full, not too full, and profitable. They want to make sure there is never a slow time again.
It depends on which Bob you listen to and if the day ends in “y”…
But the golden age of unprecedented demand shall last for generations....right?
Correct…it just doesn’t fit the narrative/damage control sweater Bob is trying to sell.Yeah, but they've done with for many years under various names such as "Discover Disney."
As an example, I am meeting family in the spring to use up some DVC points. We love the Flower and Garden festival and usually spend a day there. However, I am tired of the walls being up in Epcot, so we have decided to go to Sea World instead.I know it's anecdotal but I have noticed a lot more threads from loyal Disney guests making first time trips to Universal.
This. The truth is, as much as people say they won't come back...some still do.
That being said, it's felt different recently, the deliberate malice towards the most loyal guests is very noticeable. Instead of 3 or 4 trips, maybe we're down to 1 or 2.....and then maybe none.
It’s the standard hook for Florida residents during the least desirable dates on the calendarI could see this as a replacement for APs right now.
If I might ask…when did you go?I keep thinking about what has changed and really is depressing. They used to increase revenue while simultaneously increasing value. They made awesome themed hotels so guests would come, they expanded operating hours so guests would stay in the parks buying merch and food longer, they added magical express to make it easier to plan for families and to keep people on property, they added downtown Disney and enhanced the after hours scene so they could continue to make money when the parks weren’t even open. All of this was done to bring people in, and it worked. Now they make no effort. This last trip was the first time I stayed off property in my history of going to Disney. The reasons were: 1) I have to rent a car anyway because ubering around Disney sucks. 2) the hotels with good themes are just way too expensive, and if I wanted a sterile white environment with a sticker on the wall, I could get it at the Hampton inn (at least they’d feed me breakfast). 3) I couldn’t get any good restaurant reservations, so I ate at other Orlando spots. Because we had a rental car and we weren’t stuck in the Disney bubble, we went to universal, so they lost two days or park ticket revenue from from us as well.
It has all hallmarks of a completely dysfunctional abusive relationship. You only matter when they need you. When they don't need you, they throw you to the street. Of course this is complete hyperbole, but if the glove fits... They know you'll be back though.This.
If I know them (I do)…they are spending a considerable time in burbank and all their time on buena vista drive next to the kiwi garage trying to figure out how they play this…
Did they go too far?
Do they try and get ahead of this?
Ignore it and hope nobody notices?
Iger loose his mind and throwing ketchup on the wall?
All are on the table based on the economic forces at play.
You should see my back and forth with pest services on APs…its a hoot…I think I’m on level 3 already
Very true…It has all hallmarks of a completely dysfunctional abusive relationship. You only matter when they need you. When they don't need you, they throw you to the street. Of course this is complete hyperbole, but if the glove fits... They know you'll be back though.
When you put a consumer product guy in charge, he's going to get greedy. His biggest problem was that he and his team of ghouls in Burbank kept saying the silent part out loud about what to do with their guests. Even the future CEO Cruella De McCarthy knew when to pile one with all those fat plump meat sacks full of money.
You know the plan, they're going to go back and party like it's 2019, just not fast enough to say we bungled it big time from 2020-2022.
I'm just amazed at the conspiratorial thinking around here. This type of offer is offered around this time every year. Want to criticize the prices? Sure. That's valid. But to say, "They're only throwing you a bone because they need you now" is putting it on thick. WDW has always had this type of offer for this type of year because attendance is down from non-FR guests. It's common sense to have this offer to FRs now. But it's another case of damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they didn't offer it, you would be complaining about the lack of discount and they just don't care.It has all hallmarks of a completely dysfunctional abusive relationship. Disney wants to extract the most money from a specific demographic of guest they feel will yield the most $ per hour while on property. I guess they figure by ticking off the rest of the meat sacks full of money, they'll only be left with the prime cut of guest.I am guessing if they keep raising prices on everything and with the addition of Genie+ and ILL as well as other new extra changes for new special events/parties, they can fleece almost as much money out of folks in the 1 to two trips as they used to in the 3 or 4 trips.
Disney still wants all of our money, they just prefer us to visit less as it lowers their costs.
Machiavelli preached calculating every move to achieve an objective not stated against your adversary…I'm just amazed at the Machiavellian thinking around here. Okay, I'll change my word to "conspiratorial".Machiavelli preached calculating every move to achieve an objective not stated against your adversary…
…I thought I had a point there for a second…but I lost it when I passed the fridge
And providing offers to specific types of guests is wrong because. . .? They, along with every other theme park in existence does this.Disney wants to extract the most money from a specific demographic of guest they feel will yield the most $ per hour while on property. I guess they figure by ticking off the rest of the meat sacks full of money, they'll only be left with the prime cut of guest.
As @Sirwalterraleigh will tell you, they wound up with only hot dog filler.
It's being able to look at a bigger picture.I'm just amazed at the Machiavellian thinking around here. This type of offer is offered around this time every year. Want to criticize the prices? Sure. You were much closer with MachiavellianOkay, I'll change my word to "conspiratorial".
