Walt Disney World helps U.S. Mint

At some point your Government will do as Canada's did. Remove any options. The Loonie was introduced and they immediately started removing $1 bills from circulation. Same was done with the Toonie a few years later.

Cash registers and coin-operated machines adapted just fine.
As ridiculous as it sounds, but politics may very well keep this type of move from ever happening. I do not think anybody would want to be pegged as the one who got rid of old George Washington. Politics is why the Sacagawea dollar coin is still being minted alongside the Presidential dollar coins. Featuring the Queen on all money makes for a lot of simplicity.

Not to mention try using a dollar coin with a teenager at a cash register who at first insists that they don't take those because they have never seen one before

Except she's not. The Queen is on all our coins, but she's only on the $20 and $1,000 bills:

We've had one- and two-dollar coins for some time now. Other than sometimes weighing the pants down a bit too much :lookaroun, they're not so bad.

Monty, correct me if I'm wrong, but are the same Canadian figures on the newer bills as the old?

Also, the $1 loonie / $2 toonie coins really aren't that bad. Though whenever this discussion comes up I recall Rick Mercer promoting the $5 woodie coin to Americans.

Then put Washington on the $1 coin.

I for one cannot fathom why Americans have $1 notes, the smallest denominator note here is £5 and in less than 10 years time I suspect that will be replaced with a coin. (I have a £5 coin but thats a special collectors one for the silver jubilee a few years back).

When I was young the bills all had Queen Elizabeth II on them. The newer bills with swirly patterns are when they started having dead Prime Ministers on the 5, 10, 50 and 100 denominations. I think that started in the early 70's.

The Pound Sterling notes all have the Queen on one side and another historical figure on the other side. I can't recall all of them: Darwin, Adam Smith and some others.

Except there are politics about removing Sacagawea from the $1 coin. 2007 through at least 2016 will see five designs on the $1 coin: four presidents and Sacagawea.

With our luck they will put Obama on the $1 coin and it will be the new thing to have and everyone will think what a great idea it is and why we never thought of it before.:brick:

Yeah, let's bring politics into it.....

By law ( Unites States Code, Title 31, Section 5114(b) ) only a potrait of a deceased individual may appear on U.S. currency.

Cool, I collect coins.

/simple:lookaroun

Same here, and I don't see the $1 coins being a huge issue. Either turn around and spend them back at WDW (give them 14 for the parking fees :D) or just save them with other spare change for your next trip, wherever that may be....

I meant the newer-newer bills that started in this decade.

And technically, I believe the Queen IS on all of the current bills, albeit as a watermark only visible in certain lights.

I like the idea of paying for parking with dollar coins. I wonder if Disney would refuse a type of payment it is trying to help push.

It was only a joke, you really didnt have to cite any laws, really. But now that we did bring this up, I really wouldnt mind seeing Reagan on it.
