No
They only just refreshed the look of the animatronics in the final scene a couple of years ago. Strange that they would do that if they were planning a total redo. Probably just the props and script?

I would imagine its not a full on redo but rather plussing / changing some stuff up. Plus, it's not like imo this is the type of change that was fully planned years ago. It was probably a backthought that relied on
1. General public reaction to the Walt Animatronic
2. Disposable funds that they can reallocate.

It's my understanding that there's a lot of bidding from different sectors to get the money to do these projects which is why we see sometimes kinda random overhauls (like a lot of Tomorrowland seems to be getting)

Let me first say how much I love Carousel of Progress, it's history and the scenes that haven't changed much over the years.

I still would like to see a new COP cut from the same cloth but for a new generation. The original relied on nostalgia from Walt's generation to show how much progress has been made and what to look forward to in the future. His COP followed electricity. I'd love to see a new COP that follows the computer picking up where it left off. 1965, 1985, 2005, and the distant future of 2035. Or something like that.

Will that happen...no. Are there people who would but upset over this idea...yes, but I think Walt would have loved to see it continue to be updated for new audiences.

I had no doubt that COP was here to stay.

Glad to see it finally get the love it deserves.

All these recent refurbishments at WDW have made me a very happy camper.
Oh, those days in late 2001 when they closed it to a point to become just a seasonal attraction and everyone was going apeschmidt if it was closing for good..

What I find fascinating is that when they updated this in 1994 they had Jess Harnell do the singing voice of John in CoP which also had him later on and down the ways to become the voice of Brer Rabbit and other voices in Splash Mountain just around the same time..

As has already been related here (and a point I have brought up in previous CoP threads), if they REALLY want to be true to Walt, they should take the final scene back to the mid-ish 60’s, as it was originally staged.
As it exists now, that scene is already so chronologically disjointed from the 40’s scene preceding it, that something like taking it into the 2020’s would just be ridiculous, to me anyway…1900’s, 1920’s, 1940’s and 2020’s…?!
However, that being said, what I think could be kind of fun is if they were able to somehow restructure the show (not the theater) to include a 5th scene updated to present times, with a sort of “beyond Walt” theme.
The major problem I see with that though, is if they were intent on keeping a final scene relevant (which they never really have been with the existing final scene) it would have to be updated, at the very least, every 5 years or so.
I really just don’t ever see them taking that much money, time, effort and care to do so, though.
Just throw the Walt animatronic in, “update” the final scene and call it a day.

The Walt AA still feels weird to me and I don't see why it's necessary. But at least it fits here.
I think it makes pretty good sense to have Walt in an attraction that has his name. Isn't it one of two at WDW that he actually designed?

In my opinion makes way more sense than plopping him in the Lincoln theater like DL did and taking away show times from his prized attraction

"Preservation of the original script" is confusing.
I love Jean Shepard and the 94 version of the time. But it is not the original.

Original message preserved would be better worded and it sounds like we cant count on updates to actual attraction and that we are fine just having people continually think 94 version is the original.

Here is the chance to actually.update the show it deserves to be.

There's no way to give more time for load and unload because all theaters move at the same time every few minutes

Making the opening longer, or letting people take longer to get seated, would make all the other scenes longer too
It’s not as if Walt’s going to do a 10 minute speech though. A little padding won’t be noticeable to most.

Lotta love going towards Tomorrowland as a whole.... 👀
Really? THere is a major attraction sitting empty in the entrance, a Monsters show that makes no sense in the land, and Space Mountain that needs a whole lotta love... While I applaud them updating COP which has needed it for literally decades, It appears their whole lotta love is going to the ruination of Frontierland and the new additions on the other side of the park... This is one attraction well overdue for an update....but I would never say Tomorrowland is getting a whole lotta love....

Astro Blasters? tron? And there is quite a bit of speculation that we get SM refurbished after BTM

Why would peoplemover shut down after recently getting an entire system overhaul?
I didn't realize it got a recent system overhaul...great news!...but apparently the LB track was just replaced in 2020 and we saw how long that lasted. I guess I was in the, "what are they going to ax next!?" ultra-cynical mode since last August (I had other solid reasons for my cynicism). But I only ever saw Peoplemover ever shutting down if one of the buildings it went through was going away (and before yesterday's very-happy news, I feared the CoP building was the prime candidate for possible demo. What I was implying is that the recent news indicates a complete MK Tomorrowland revamp is not necessary (it may still happen for DL's though). I curious what they have planned for the grossly-underutilized Monsters and Stich spaces, I'm cautiously-optimistic about them re-starting the Space Mountain re-track they originally planned back in 2009, and hoping they announce exciting plans for the Speedway site after "Frontireland" opens. All of this "wish list" could result in a quite-nice Tomorrowland!
