Walt Disney(person) is rolling in his grave because what Disney has become. Who agrees or disagrees

Agree and disagree. I think the thing Walt cared the most about are still there. Clean, feels secluded from the real world, stuff for all age groups. Some of the things I think he'd be iffy about. Remember Epcot was supposed to be a community not just a park. Now Epcot is my favorite park, so I'm not bias. But I think homes in celebration and golden oaks make it a lil better. HS losing its shows initially I didn't like but the replacements in Star Wars and toy story make it ok. I think he'd be happy with the overall product now.

I never associated star wars with disney so it was a bit odd seing the attractions at Hollywood studios. Same for Raiders of Lost Ark.

I think one thing we can all agree upon is that he'd be appalled at the lack of hot cheese.

it's sadly true, BUT I have a qualifying statement. Walt was one of those rare leaders that not only gave leadership but found ways to do it in a personal way. "The world", was his passion, and he gave us the feeling that his passion was just as much about the people, as it was the profits. Without that special kind of leadership to guide the company, it seems almost inevitable that the roles will reverse and the focus will become more about the profits and less about the people.

I think he would be fighting this system that Disney has now fallen into. Sorry to say but kids do not need to be stuck with the dysfunctions that are now starting to be shown by them. Walt was never about making a negotive into a bad disfuction we need to not see so much. So the kids do not need that.

He is dead, and since there is no life after death he is doing nothing.
When he was alive he was a Capitalist of another generation, I am sure he wanted to make money but without Roy Disney would of been broke

You bumped a 3 year old thread to say that? Your username is certainly relevant.

Walt would fire every executive and manager above the park level for being lazy, complacent, and grossly, GROSSLY overpaid. He would keep no one except the park cast members and people essential to operations. He would clear out and rebuild the animation studios staff from the ground up, starting with animators. He would sell off all off-brand third party IPs acquired through corporate acquisitions. He would be disgusted beyond belief at the greed and lack of soul with which his company has been run since the 1980s.

Man, it's no wonder he died. That halo you have put on his head must have been too tight cutting off his circulation.

I feel the opposite. He was a creative genius, but, he did it in a different time. The stuff that is happening now, is much more technical, animation is what Pixar is, he would go broke hand animating now and it wouldn't look as realistic as the current graphics are. He wouldn't have wanted to miss out on that technology and probably would have pioneered it. He never did have a problem with third party IP's and most of his successes sans Mickey, were someone else's ideas that he Disneyized to his liking. Think, Cinderella, Snow White, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and Mary Poppins, to name a few.

The Disney company is still doing that with those newer IP's. The current crop of Disney purists somehow think that Walt invented all those characters and/or all those story lines. All he did was take a story and twist it into an 90 minute movie with his personal touches. Still an IP though. Exactly the same as they are doing with Star Wars. They now own Pixar, so it is now, in reality, Disney Animation by a different name.

We have no idea what he would have thought or done. Even if he was still alive he would be 117 years old and drooling in his oatmeal while calling everyone Roy or Lilly.

A very good post.

I think threads like these are a joke. Unfortunately for the world, the creative genius that was Walt Disney has been gone for many years. So much has changed in the decades since his passing, that it is impossible to say what he would have thought/done about any modern situation.
I find this true and applicable any time someone tries to use a dead person as a strawman for any argument . Especially by people who did not know said person.
