Walt Disney lived there

He was telling the crowd how we built the Beast's castle because you couldn't go into Cinderella's castle at lunch, told the story of Maurice's cottage wrong, and some other made up stuff.
This is getting to be a re-occurring theme with made up CM bull. I'm wondering if it's out of ignorance, or they're just having fun with people & enjoy getting the rumor mill spinnin'.

The kid I was talking to was speaking out of ignorance, and was honestly sorry. Like most people, including the lady the original posters spoke too, he was passing down a story that he heard.

Riding the boat from Downtown Disney to POFQ one afternoon, this family sitting behind us was talking and the older lady said about Cinderella's Castle, "Walt Disney lived there for awhile." This duly impressed her family. I'm guessing she was confused about the apartment at Disneyland, but it was not in the castle there.
After hearing this and several other things that were flat out wrong, including he is buried there, I leaned over and said Walt Disney died in 1966, long before the castle was even built.
The lady looked at me like I was the idiot and told me she knows what she read, quite rudely. I just smiled and said, OK, sorry.
How can someone so wrong be so convinced they are correct?

How can someone who is right, feel it's necessary to interrupt another person's conversation for the sole purpose of embarrassing them in front of their friends and or family? I don't care if I'm 100% wrong, it's incredibly rude to simply jump into my conversation for the purpose showing off your expertise on whatever the subject happens to be. You're obviously free to do as you feel, but sorry, in my opinion it wasn't your place to correct a stranger over something that was not hurting anyone.

I correct strangers all the time and I couldn't care less. I don't see how it's rude, strangers correct me at times and I appreciate it. If I'm wrong about something, I know I'd want people to tell me. I don't see the problem in that, but okay.

Read it again...I leaned over and said...
I quietly said this to her in private after she was finished. Did not interrupt anyone with the sole purpose of embarrassing them in front of anyone. You sure made a lot of assumptions.
Anyway, thanks for your opinion. That is what makes this board so wonderful, people communicating. Again, thank you for your opinion.

Actually... That classic epcot logo in the cement after innoventions is where his frozen chamber is. That circle in the middle is a secret door. Sometimes he comes out, looks arround and says "What is this garbage" , and then he goes back.

Ok I laughed at this. I can only imagine how he would react to the way things are. I would imagine him being very happy with some things and extremely unhappy with others. Your quote has me laughing because I can envision this. He would be like "This isn't part of EPCOT, right? This is just some elaborate set that was built as a practical joke, right? No? Ok, well please freeze me again."

If I went around the parks correcting every incorrect piece of info I heard, I'd have no voice left at all! I will have to leave that to others.

OP, when other people don't appreciate your corrections, let it go. Forge ahead with your vacation fun. :) you might want to just stop correcting them. There is a lot of Disney ignorance out there, but it is bliss. ;)

Years ago, I was at a friend's house and we were going to car pool to work that day. His mom and dad owned their own business and were going to a trade show that day. I started to say how nice that must be to get out of the office, meet new people, talk to them about business when she cut me off and gave me these words of wisdom that I cherish to this day:

"David, people are stupid - and they smell."

I have adopted that as my mantra from that day forward whenever I get annoyed with the general populace.

Just going back up a few posts, about Walt being frozen, now I know this is a long standing rumour and has probably been talked to death on here many many times, but i am going to ask a stupid question, ok here goes, I'm going to do it, I'm actually going to do it ...... is he really frozen? If not does anyone know where his grave is?

sorry for the stupid question, but I have only ever heard this story in rumours.

Time for the people who 'think' they know the correct answer to step forward and the ones who 'actually' know to say whether correct or put them in their place lol!

Walt Disney was cremated and interred at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
