Walt Disney Imagineers Unveil Mysterious Portrait...

Basically I said that to Tony was working on a project for MK and was told not gonna happen by a few people. Not naming names but one rhymes with pee the other comes after 73

Any idea on if it's a completely new project, or possibly going back to the Western River Expedition concept?

I wouldn't look for a completely new project at MK's Frontierland.
However, there has been talk (I believe we may have mentioned it here some time ago) of doing something to tie the land together in a more cohesive manner, ala Thunder Mesa.

How, though? Doesn't really seem like it would work considering the setup of the land, especially with Splash Mountain there.

Now, now, old rudolf buddy ... no need to get all y. I have no idea what you (or anyone else) think this social media toying with the fans is about, but I'm guessing you are of the belief that it's some Baxter-led project for the MK that's somehow been kept so super secret that only you have heard of it.

Anything is possible. But I'm going on the FACTS that I know or am told. As follows:
1.) Tony has no projects outside of DL, that is his portfolio/his responsibility;
2.) No one wants to let Tony near anything for Florida and what he'd most like ... indeed, he told friends this week that he'd spend another five years with the company if he could ''fix Imagination''.
3.) Tony has been talking to a lot of folks at IAAPA this week (and not talking about fanbois who bought passes or whoring bloggers who bought credentials, talking industry insiders) that he has NOTHING beyond the Fantasyland meet and greet and a possible large scale project for DL, which won't have a decision made until after Disney releases a film next year. If it doesn't do huge business, then there's no chance of that project happening;
4.) Tony has made it clear that barring either of the above that he will retire next year;
5.) Staggs and Rasulo have made it clear that CAP EX spending will be going down for P&R and that they won't be adding new projects to the books;
6.) Even if something were to happen at WDW, why would it ever happen at MK when it is putting the finishing touches on a $430 million (as a friend said, never have so many, spent so much to achieve so little) project in that park;

So, if you wanna go out on some limb and say Tony Baxter is leading a MAJOR new attraction for the MK, please do so. I will say that's crazy all the while hoping that you are right.

But I'm doing what I always do, basing my posts on facts and perspective-based opinions and I'm usually right ... but not 100% of the time.

No problem I will ad you to my list
I'd like to hear anything too, i'm not about to diss anyone unless they've been absolutely proven wrong on something in the past (like ThemeParkOne on Twitter who ended up basically committing account suicide both on Twitter and on these forums and Micechat by embarrassing himself when he made bold short term predictions about massive D23 announcements that all ended up being lies). Anything you can say would be appreciated on the matter, the truth of it all will be seen soon enough I say. If nothing else i'm interested in hearing your opinion on the matter. I'm assuming at least that this would be something more substantial than queue additions. Is it some kind of ride, redo, or something else entirely?

With Disney teasing something right now, it seems probable they plan on announcing it formally very very soon (correct me if i'm wrong). Unless you were just trolling, I don't see why you'd want to leak this stuff and end up embarrassing yourself. You'd end up completely ruining your image on these forums. If your info turns out to be wrong, then so be it and we all move on and learn a bit more about who is or isn't trustworthy here for insider info. But as we seem close to some sort of reveal about this so called new attraction, i'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and waiting for this to play out. I'm always fair enough to give people that much when they make claims that are easily proven or disproven so soon afterwards. I think we all want awesome new attractions, and I don't want you to be wrong.

We'll know soon who has more insider information on the matter. I say we wait and see what this tease ends up being, and keep our dissing to ourselves for now. The truth will soon be seen. The only thing I will say is that I WILL be surprised if this ends up being something at all major, but again we will see.

I have very little faith in that movie being successful.

Why is everyone acting big and not saying the movie. It's OZ and Baxter wants to make a land based off it. If its a huge sucess it will go forward if it flops no deal and it's most likely going to flop. In addition, there are plans for Lone Ranger attractions if that movie is a success but that's a wildcard and I don't believe Tony is involved in those discussions.

One thing I would like confirmation on is if Tony, as the imagineer heading up Disneyland, has any involvement in the Iron Man attraction? If no then why not? and was he involved at all with Star Tours 2?

Nothing happens at DL that doesn't pass through Tony's office. He isn't directly working on Iron Man, but he is involved to some degree at higher levels.

As I hear it, Tony would be working on either Oz or Lone Ranger, whichever (if either) gets the green.

I have little faith in Lone Ranger. I just dont think it'll take off. Oz, even if it isnt as "good", will draw because of how ingrained The Wizard of Oz is in culture.

So in these proposals, would Oz be a new Mini-Land in Frontierland and Lone Ranger a ride using that new-fangled Shanghai-developed Enhanced Motion Boat technology?

No offense to anyone here or on any board, I am not here to cultivate an image and actually care very little about what anyone here or anyone else thinks about me. I don't troll 74 can verify most of what I've said and if he doesn't, oh well. What I've told is correct at the present time. Too many people here take things way too serious and get bent out of shape way too easily. I love how certain individuals here treat this as the most important aspect of their lives. Believe with all the Internet cred in the world it still won't pay my bills and it still won't get me on the subway
