Walt Disney Imagineering move Scott Trowbridge to a new dedicated Star Wars Studio at WDI

I see no conceivable way that any Star Wars property opens at WDW (and likely DL at this point) before 2018-19 at the earliest.

Again, they took more time to build a simple kiddie coaster then WDP took to build EPCOT Center with 1980 technology. Why anyone would think they'd suddenly adopt the UNI model of getting things done is a bit over my head.

Because they won't be committing all the development resources to China that they were before. Which kinda explains all the cranes at WDW now.

I wonder how much of what they want to do is still in the design process and contingent on what is going to be shown in the upcoming films. If JJ Abrams walks in and says: "On this planet all the trees are purple" then they have to scrap whatever they had planned and start again? I imaginevthey would stick with established locations for now

Iger has said he wants more of a timely connection between the films and attractions so I think you are likely right. IMO.

Here is my thought...a few rides will come for sure to DHS. I'd think they would wait for a full fledged land after Episode 7. They may want to see how Episodes 7-9 will look like on script before any major Star Wars Land development starts.

Yep. And anything at DHS almost has to happen in phases similar to DCA because they just do not have the space otherwise. IMO.

I thought they cleared out the area behind Indy Stunt for Star Wars (as was speculated)? And wouldn't they use that spot too? And then convert Backlot to Cantina. Throw in a spinner, some landscape/theming, move Jedi to Sounds Dangerous building and boom. Star Wars Land.

I think Cantina would be a nice start...a "duel" every 30 minutes where Han blows away Greedo! Dinner and a show!

They start principal photography in two weeks. They have known what the gist of the story would be about for a long period. And since it is all but confirmed that Episode 7 will return to Tatooine they could proceed with many of the rumored plans from before. It really wouldn't be hard to push forward on design concepts without letting the plot be widely known.

If they announce something, I feel like they'll do it at Star Wars Weekends along with an SWVII announcement. I mean, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams there together for the first time?! Something big has to go down!
Mark Hamill being there in itself is HUGE in my mind. Has Harrison Ford or Carrie Fisher ever been to SWW?

If they truly did want Star Wars Land open by 2018 they would need to announce it & begin construction by next year probably around Summer. Disney does have 2 good opportunities to do so with Disneyland's 60th. Anniversary in July and D23 in August but then again Disney has been known to ignore good opportunities in the past.

But you should really listen to WDW1974 if he says there is nothing planned for Orlando I would definitely trust him over other insider pretenders.

He isn't the only insider here. His opinions also aren't the only ones that matter.

Supposedly they got pretty close to a big Star Wars makeover last time. I'm sure those plans have lots of valid design data that can still be used.

I think it has been pretty much established that Pandora was delayed due to the delay in the sequels. They want to have there be synergy between the movies and the attractions.

And since they are developing new technologies it also takes time. If you rush these type projects you end up with unforeseen problems potentially. Murphy lives and so does his law.

It has? I don't recall hearing anything that would make be believe this was the case. Yes, it's possible, but I don't see it as an established fact.
