No surprise really. It's a shame that it didn't get a Best Picture nod along with The Dark Knight. Both films deserved it, and both got snubbed in favor of typical Oscar darlings.

You forgot to list its 6th nod, which also happens to be the most prestigious of the 6 - BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY.

6 AA noms is sweet, but I still think it should have been nominated for best picture.

I'm actually pretty disgusted with the oscar noniations this year. How ON EARTH did Gran Torino not get nominated for a single award?! :fork:

And I'm also disgusted that the acadamy chickened out on nominating Wall-E and the Dark Knight for best picture and decided yet again to nominate a bunch of art movies that we've never heard of. :brick:

Because the academy's heads are waaaayyyy to far up their collective butts. Seriously Dark Knight and Wall-E were in the TOP 4 best reviewed movies of the year, and techincally Wall-E was the best reviewed. But of course the academy looks down on "kiddie" animated movies and "comic book" movies. But mediocre borefests like Benjamin Button(which was pretty much Forrest Gump minus the charm and wit) and The Reader.

And I know Rotten Tomatoes isn't the most accurate system, but The Reader has a 60%! Compared to Wall-E's 96% and TDK's 94%, it's a travesty that it was nominated over both.

But The Reader has Kate Winslet doing the hibbity-dibbity with a 15 year old, so of course it's going to get nominated.

Don't forget the Wrestler...also snubbed...and has a 98% approval rating.

Mickey Rourke should definitely win AotY for that one.

Agreed. I just haven't seen The Wrestler yet, so I can't comment on it. Stupid Blacksburg, VA only having one theater and of course it isn't playing TW.
