We are booked at pofq, heavily debated between FAQ and rs tho, but for some reason when we booked Fq was a bit cheaper, I have since been wondering if I made the right decision ? Mainly for atmosphere and reading posts that fq food court is lacking. How far of a walk is it to rs from fq if we wanted to check out their amenities (particularly food court)? Convince me I made a good choice!

FQ food court lacking? Where'd you hear that? We LOVED the food court there. Plenty of options and plenty of seating.

One afternoon we stayed there my DH and Sister and her husband went for a walk over to RS. LMAO they told me it was a 2 beer walk. Guessing that means about 10 mns

Stayed at both.

Ok,let me say 10mins walk/stroll is about right, along the sassagoula river, however I think RS has a much better and bigger selection of food than the FQ.have stayed once at FQ,and twice at RS.Infact this year will be our third RS vacation. Both resorts are beautiful.

Spent 10 days a POR a couple years ago. The walk between POR and POFQ is indeed 10-15 minutes, even at a slow stroll. You can make it food ourt to food court in about 7 if you walk fast/jog.

While the POR food court has a few more options, and certainly more seating, I wouldn't call the POFQ court lacking. Plus, POFQ has beignets at their food court -- can't get those at Riverside.

Just for fun, here's a few other things I noted between the two:

I like POR's pool area better. More interesting layout and more interesting pool features.

POR has a sit-down restaurant, while POFQ does not.

If you have a Tables In Wonderland card, you get a discount at POFQ's food court, but not POR's (food court discounts generally only at hotels without a table-service restaurant).

If you're in a far-flung room at POR, you can be quite a ways out -- POFQ is much more compact.

The walk is really not a big deal. We stay at Riverside and the last trip we made...during the hottest week of the Summer (last June), we walked from FQ several times to our room in Oak Manor. I you want to go to the bar, Boatwright's or whatever at the main building, you'll be fine. I haven't stayed at FQ (the Wife and Father in Law did years ago), but we've walked through there several times and eaten at the food court.

The FQ food court isn't lacking, but the RS one has more space...on a good day you can get tables pretty far from other people at off times at the RS court. Otherwise, it's a wash.

Try to make it over to the River Roost to see YeeHa Bob Jackson if he still plays there. He's a hoot.

Enjoy your trip!

A fan of French Quarter here. The walk over to Riverside is very relaxing and peaceful, especially after walking all day amidst the crowds in the parks - but just watch out for the occasional jogger or bicyclist. We spend time having fun with Dyson at FQ one night and switch over to Bob Jackson another night. Both are fantastic entertainers. We also are happier with the food court at the FQ.

We stayed at POFQ 2009 + 2010 and both times loved the walk to the POR. The kids got all dressed up in flashing shoes and carried glow sticks, so that people on the boats could see them. Then they waved at every boat that went by and loved it.

And I think the people on the boat did too:animwink:

Some things just don't have to cost a thing to be enjoyable, but they still remember it now two years on.

We stayed at POR for the first time this past Sept/October and my best friend & her family stayed at POFQ. They walked over to POR one time to share our daughter's birthday cake and we walked over one night to all get together at the pool. We stayed at Magnolia Terrace and the walk was at most 10 minutes....... While I didn't eat at the food court at POFQ I did look around and it seemed fine. My friend and her husband loved everything about POFQ. You've made a good decision. I will recommend the table service at POR....Boatwright's! It was one of our favorite meals of our trip!

We have stayed at both resorts and both are great. The walk from one to the other is at most 10-15 minutes, and it is a nice relaxing one with great views. Both food courts are nice with the one at POR having slightly more choices. You did not make a wrong choice picking POFQ, it is just as appealing as POR. Hope this helps.
