Walk from MK to Grand Floridian?

Yes, it really DOES look like that. Walkways already in place, and nowhere to go. This could be fixed - after all the MONORAIL goes over this stretch. So why not a properly spaced "companion bridge" ?
It would have to be a drawbridge like Epcot's ... that is the inlet where the electric water pageant calls home ... As much as I want them to connect it ... I can't see them spending the money on it.

Also waterway is needed for maintenance on boats in Rivers of America. Can't lose access provided by waterway. So answer would seem to be some kind of movable bridge. As much as we would also like it to happen, we can't see them spending money, even for guest-purchased "walkway" pavers, to complete the path.

It's funny how it just ends, when we were on the monorail last year you start to follow it when your riding along then all of a sudden it stops. It would be a nice walk back after late night fireworks.

My professional opinion is they should put a double leaf bascule bridge in

With two leaves, it essentially shuts off the walkway itself. For extra insurance, railroad style drop gates can be added on either side. This would negate the need for any more CMs than it takes to run the Electric Water Pageant now. They can go ahead and sell more pavers to finish up the pathway on the GF side.

And the ROI justification would be what? I can't see one.

The need for CMs is not necessarily negated. People do all kinds of weird things around draw bridges including trying to beat the raising of the bridge. It would be inevitable that someone would get hurt and sue over there being insufficient warning, insufficient barriers, you name it. There is no doubt they would have to post CMs.

But really, it all comes down to cost justification. It wouldn't sell a lot more rooms. Don't see it.

I hate that path! I was once super late for a reservation with friends at the Garden View for tea, and I took that path thinking it would save time.

I left my wallet at AKL that morning, and didn't realize it until I went to pay for breakfast at Crystal Palace (I had my room key separate so at least I got into the park). My friends covered me for breakfast, but I wasn't going to ask them to pay for me all day so I took the bus back to AKL. Going back to the room ended up taking all morning. We had one of the last rooms at Kidani, and by the time I waited for a bus, got back to the resort, walked to the room, and back, and then waited for another bus it was almost time for tea.

When I got back to the MK, I had just missed the resort monorail, and the boat, so when I saw the path that seemed to go to GF, I was thrilled. Cue running on my part, all the way to the Grand… sudden end of the path!! What! Why would they do that!

So I said some bad words, ran back, waited 10 mins for the boat, and ended up being 40 mins late for tea.

All I wanted at that point was some nice cold Prosecco with my tea, but for the first time all vacation I was carded, and my license was no where to be found. Turns out it was on the floor in our room, where it fell when I frantically checked to make sure I had everything before I left this time. I was 34 at the time, so yay for being carded I guess, but boo for no prosecco!

And that is the very long story about why I hate that path!

FYI, I'm not usually this disorganized. This is what happens when you stay at the MK until 2:00am, and then try to make your 8:00am CP reservations the next morning :).

So the monorail "bridge" is a drawbridge? :)

Clearly not - therefore it is possible, at the same height, to build a companion bridge to complete the walkway. Given, this COULD be a bit of a climb... :).

Drawbridge would be fine too... :).
I was referring to making something at ground level ... I think something, at the height of 25' (or higher as that is the height of the screens) would be an eyesore in terms of a pedestrian bridge ... the monorail beams are pretty minimal and simple.
