Waiting in Line

We do numerous things. We talk about the ride or strike up a conversation with other families. I also seem to spend a lot of time subtly giving people behind me a hint about being to close to me. My personal favorite is to swing around with my backpack on and see if they get the hint. :goodnevil

Agreed with the personal space issue. Nothing worse than someone standing so close u can feel their breath on your neck.

We generally talk about what to do next or how cool the previous ride was. I do like the Disney alphabet game that "redshoesrock" mentioned however and may try that.

If I'm solo, I usually mess with my phone, texting people or playing games. If I'm with friends or my mom, we talk. Friends talk about work & crazy guests we've dealt with. If I'm with my mom, we talk about pretty much everything. Also give hints to people about personal space.
(we were in line for splash & the kid behind me was about 7. He didn't get the hints about backing off, nor did his mother. We got to the top of the stairs & I put my hand down & ending up smacking the kind right in the chest on accident. He backed off the rest of the wait)

Pray for my arms not to fall off while I'm carrying the kids ..

I remember one time over at US riding the Simpsons attraction - it was just my wife and me. They had a drink cart setup and we bought a couple of 20oz beers. Really enjoyed that line!

We like to create outlandish scenes where we yell at each other or very loudly engage in conversation about false Disney trivia. Then after our trip we like to come to the mesage boards and see if any WDWMagic members were within earshot and heard or saw what we did. ROFL Just kidding :)

But you have to admit that is pretty funny. :)

I hear about holding the kids!! Add some August heat into the mix and try not to melt!!

I love the telephone idea! We will have a few kids in the group! And the skittle one!

I know I have shared this before, but it may even be something the park should consider adding. On a trip in 2000, my sons wanted to go on BTM one more time. Long past getting a fastpass, we got in line. It was posted at 35 minutes. A gentleman just a few spots in front of us started doing coin tricks. I am talking some excellent slight of hand. The line seemed to move right along.

As difficult as it may be during long waits, I try not to take out my phone every 30 seconds while I'm in line. I might if it's something I can involve the group in, otherwise we resort to bantering back & forth or making up a random game.

ex. We were stuck in line for nearly 2 hours at Soarin'. We had passed the screens that the crowd can interact and play along with at this point, so we decided to add our own twist to Rock, Paper, Scissors. The game was played the same way, but instead of choosing RPS when you say "shoot", we'd all pick something random (raptor, beluga whale, nuclear bomb, etc.) and of course give it it's own hand motion lol.

We don't tend to wait in long lines either, but on the rare occasions when the long line is unavoidable, we play "Twenty Questions" and "The Alphabet Game" (Someone says, "When I went to Disney World I brought with me.." and then says an "A" word. Then the next person repeats the line, repeats the "A" word, and says a "B" word. It keeps going until someone forgets a word. My record is all the way through the alphabet and then through "W" - 49 words.)

We play a Disney version of that! If we're waiting for Splash mountain we start with "I want to ride Splash Mountain with Arial" then the next person would say I want to ride Splash Mountain with Belle" then...Cinderella...then Daisy and on and on...

Then we have to remember where we left off so we can start at the right spot on the next ride. It helps my niece pass the time and learn about Disney Characters she didn't know about before. There's usually multiple choices for every letter so we try to mix it up a bit.

Thank goodness for Xr from the Buzz Lightyear cartoon

btw...if you guys know of any other character that begins with x please let me know...my niece will be very impressed with me

We scour the lines and search for people who resemble celebrities, then take their picture and show our family and friends the 'famous' people we saw while visiting the World. We've seen Edward James Olmos, the host of Cash Cab, Ed Begley Jr. and Condeleeza Rice to name a few. We've even spotted 'friends' and 'neighbors' who swore they weren't really there. Yeah right!:ROFLOL:

What line? If you following the touring plans and use FastPasses, you can avoid most of the lines altogether. I've never waited in a line that was more than 10 minutes long.

ROFL, I have to say, yeah, I'm pretty much like that as well. I rarely go during busy times, and when I can't get on a ride in less than 10-15 it's time to switch parks or take a break. And usually checking out the park maps or something is enough to fill that time. :)

We normally have a pretty large group and like to try and get "Others" around us to join the fun. We have been known to be the life of the line :D That's part of the joy of Disney that each and every one of us has inside and need to get out!!! :sohappy: Doing the TinkerBell dance (made it up years ago for the kids) is always a highly anticipated adventure...never know when or where it's going to appear!
